State your unpopular film related opinion - - - - - - Part 15

My first post was sarcastic, but I honestly think a good deal of people who hate the twist simply hate it because it's different-not because it goes against some built in love for the character. It's different from the comic thus it is bad.

Why I hate the twist...

* Remember the horror and suspense of that scene where the Mandarin is about to kill that man on live television, yeah, it's a ****ing joke.

* How Trevor had no idea what was going on is absolutely absurd.

* It was only serious thing that the movie had going for it, they managed to turn just about everything in the film into a joke.

* It honestly felt more like a twist for the benefit of having a twist than to be genuinely clever.

* The most cliche villain, Mr. I waited on the rooftop for hours/I admire you but you ignored me, became the main villain.

* Marvel found a way to make the Mandarin as true to the comics with that appearance without being racist, but then... well you know.

* It just kinda happens, like there is only one scene in the movie that can kinda make you go "Ooooh" when you know he's a fake. If you look at any other movie with a mind blowing twist, you can rewatch and see all the little things you missed and made the twist obvious.

Eh, I loved the twist.

Anyways, Transformers has one of the best theme songs ever.

The MuteMath Transformers theme?

12 Years a Slave might be the first movie I've shared the same opinion with Armond White on.

I'm not an IM fan, but this is his Green Goblin, Loki, Joker, Luthor, whatever. So yeah, I can respect that, and if done correctly, the Mandarin could be spectacular.

Iron Man doesn't have a Joker. He doesn't even have a freakin' Penguin. The best thing about Mandarin is that he is Iron Man's least worst villain, which even that is debatable.

I hate the Mandarin twist in IM3, but God this argument is played out. Same points about why it sucks, same counter-points from the minority who liked it, blah blah blah. :o

I come to this thread to hear someone say something really controversial, like Spider-Aziz claiming Kubrick is a doody-head who can't direct.

Here I'll start:

The original Star Wars movies. In retrospect? Meh. :o

Minority who liked it? I think you got your thoughts mixed up. *Minority who disliked it.*

Deathly Hallows Pt.1 was kind of boring.

I never liked them too much. I saw them recently after some good 20 years and I liked them better than before. Good movies but I'm not crazy about them.

I think Liev Schreiber was a poor choice to play Sabretooth. Not to say he turned in a bad performance, he clearly played the character like a pro and had some fun chewing the scenery, even as he managed to underplay it at times. But Schreiber is such an everyman type, but with Tyler Mane I really felt like I was seeing Sabretooth stepped off the page.

Tyler Mane had the personality of a box of cereal. Wolvie and STooth are supposed to have a very personal and immortal fued with each other, and you can't have that when the dude playing 'Tooth can only express himself by growling like Chewbacca.

I don't think you're alone in thinking Schreiber was miscast. He had fun as you say but he was miscast. Visually I loved Tyler Mane in the role even if his characterization was next to nothing.

This.

He was definitely not miscast and one of the rare positives about the whole movie.

I'd take Liev over roaring henchman Mane anyday.
