Charlize Theron's performance as Furiosa, while good, isn't worthy of an Oscar nomination.

Agreed. And that's fine. There was nothing wrong with her performance, but it's not an Oscar worthy role like some are trying to make it out to be.

I also have what seems to be an unpopular opinion that she wasn't better than Tom Hardy.

Actually the best performance in the movie might have been Nicholas Hoult.

Since Hugh Jackman is out as Wolverine after Wolverine 3. (Jackman Wolverine was my only reason for following and liking the X films) I'm ready for X-men to be brought into the Marvel Universe. Granted X-men DOFP did a decent job "fixing" previous X-films and timeline it was still a let down to me. I'm ready for a new take on the X-men. Yep, that's right, I'm ready for a proper reboot.
I think introducing Xavier and the X-men would be an awesome attribute to the already impressive Marvel Universe.

Was actually coming to post the same thing. I mean Theron is a great actress no doubt and I liked her in the movie but people are really blowing it out of proportion.

IMO people are doing the same thing with Rebecca Ferguson. I still dont get why people are going crazy for her in MI5. I saw an article on Collider that said she get nominated, or at the least that she will be overlooked

How's this for unpopular: I don't want the X-Men in the MCU at all.

It's gonna be even more unpopular on my end to say I don't want that happening because I don't want the MCU ruining X-Men by jamming it into the rest of the s*** they've got going on.

I...uhh...it's funny. I actually talked about this just yesterday. I think after X3 and that crappy Wolverine Origin film, Fox got back on track so HARD with the X-Films. I liked 1st Class, looooved DoFP (it's my no. 3 fave superhero film), I liked The Wolverine a LOT, I'm actually looking forward to Deadpool (let this sink in, cause I HAAAAAATE Deadpool) and can't wait for Apocalypse.

These films would not happen if Disney had them. There's no effin' way we would get this type of Deadpool movie. I the MCU, it would be a CGI rendered film with tone similar to the USM Disney cartoon. And honestly, one reason why I could never get into the X-Books was because I never thought mutants and their problems and prejudices worked in a shared universe with Spider-People, Gamma-people, Avengers, the Thing...and I wondered if my suspension of disbelief would benefit from the X-Men being in their own world. So I agree. Keep the X-Men with Fox.

Get the Fantastic Four the hell away from Fox.

But keep the X-Men with Fox.

(Forgive any typos. This was posted from an iPhone while I'm at work)

That's exactly why I dont want it.
I think it would do a disservice to both franchises, universes, whatever to combine them.

X-Men has so much material to work with in terms of prequels, spin offs, TV shows (although I dont know the deal with that), etc.

I'll go with another unpopular opinion:
-I want a full X-Men reboot soon. Ive mentioned it before. And yes I know DOFP technically is a "reboot" but I mean a full reboot, new actors (although some of them will be hard to replace I think), new director, new everything.

I think theyve gotten a pretty good run out of the franchise. Out of 7 movies I've thought 5 of the movies were good, 2 of them great and if it wasn't for where it is: Jackman leaving, Lawrence leaving (although Ive never cared for her Mystique that much), allegedly Fass and McAvoy's contracts being up after Apocalypse, and Singer talking how Apocalypse is the culmination of a trilogy it just feels right to end it now and start fresh.

The only thing is the Deadpool movie.

I know perfectly well what you mean when you say you want a reboot, and dofp was not a reboot in any way shape or form.

dofp was a sequel to both xmen 3 (and fc), which itself was a sequel to x2, which was a sequel to the first film.

Some people count it as a reboot because of the ending. I dont count it as one

But being technical a reboot is a changing of continuity, which happened at the end of DOFP

If the X-men join the MCU it will feel even more bloated. Everything included that leads up to Infinity War and beyond is plenty to work with.

Admittedly, I'm not a fan of the MCU as a whole so I'd rather have X-men remain separate anyway.

No X-Men in the MCU for now, for me. Marvel Studios have plenty of stuff to work with. I'd rather have F4 back.

This unpopular opinion is turning out to be quite popular here, it seems.

You guys do understand that if the X-men were added to the Marvel Universe films it does not have to make it seem more "bloated". The X-men don't have to take part in the infinity stone plot or thrown into the Avengers or other team up movies, they would just exist in the same universe that all these other hero's and villains exist. simple mention, nods, cameo is all that is needed. No written rule saying they would have to be included in the growing and expanding infinity stone plot.

Regardless though it don't matter, whether Marvel or Fox has X-men they are both prone to releasing good and bad films so neither is a guarantee that the reboot would be any better than what we already got.

I dont mean inflated in terms of plot alone. I also mean inflated in terms of release schedule

Well, X-Men movies are going to release regardless, so I don't know why you would think it would be more inflated.

Bloated or no I don't want them in the MCU because the major conceit behind the X-Men is they're people who are born, or can do, extraordinary things and that makes the world hate and fear them. I've always felt that metaphor doesn't hold any weight in the greater Marvel Universe, comics or otherwise. Why hate Wolverine because he can heal, but super smart Pym, Stark and web slinging Parker are totally cool? X-Men can stay with Fox. They can keep on rocking over there.

BTW none of that is to say I don't like the X-Men. I do. They're one of my favorite comic properties.

I gotta actually hand it to Fox and the X-Men franchise for not rebooting. It's the oldest superhero franchise that hasn't rebooted yet. You'd think in the world we live in now, it would have gotten rebooted after XMOW if it was with another studio (Sony). But 15 years strong? Damn, I respect and admire that. I like it in fact. If a movie isn't so good, they don't wimp out and scramble to reboot, they keep going. Granted, I think Hugh Jackman and his high profile has a say in these things. If Wolverine wasn't played by such a big actor we may have gotten rebooted by now. Or not, I don't know.

Agreed, Dr. Jones. Also, Fox has a pretty good track record with the X-Men, IMO. 1 good film, 3 great films, 1 excellent film, 1 mediocre film, and 1 piss poor film. Not too shabby.

I agree with almost everything said about X-Men on this page.
The thing I certainly disagree with is the reboot.

I don't think it's an unpopular opinion at all to want X-Men to remain at Fox. Fox seems to have a good handle on that franchise now.

Fantastic Four, on the other hand, can't get back to Marvel soon enough.

some people counting it as a reboot does not make it an official reboot. if fans consider it a reboot, that's another thing. it changing the continuity was due to the events of the film itself, which were followups to previous installments of the same series. so even if it does what a reboot is supposed to do, it's canon.
