I don't know why this should be considered an unpopular opinion because frankly WW was just **** in this movie. Diana's introduction was just laughable. I mean my God, Bruce turns around and sees a woman in the distance who just walks away? This is the very definition of terrible world building where it feels like she was dropped in there by the claw of a committee and told to do something.

When she showed up I didn't care. None of her scenes mattered so why should I care? I wasn't entertained, by that point I was just so tired and sad. Her as WW did nothing, she did nothing remarkable. I'm not even going to judge Gadot because she was barely given anything to do. This wasn't even a performance. It was the definition of a glorified cameo.

I haven't seen the film, but out of (morbid) curiosity, is the "Is she with you?" scene before or after Batman e-mails Wonder Woman?

Thanks! I saw somewhere it was mentioned it happened before, which wouldn't make a lot of sense.[/BLACKOUT]

I don't think Rogue One looks all that bad. I mean, sure the "its a rebellion - I rebelled" sounds cringey, but that's the bread, butter and charm of Star Wars. I'm looking forward to more ground combat vs the Stormtroopers.

Is Rogue One looking good an unpopular opinion? I thought it looked cool.

It's done exactly how you imagine that to be. :funny:

Wonder Woman sits there and receives an email by Bruce and she looks through them. It's about the most boring thing imaginable.

The superhero cameos in BvS are terrible. Feels like you're visiting the official Justice League movie website. "Click on the symbol to see Cyborg's origin!"

Maybe they should have included a trailer for the JL movie as well.

I come here to escape my whining on BvS, and see this discussion is still all over the Hype.

Creed is the funniest movie in the Rocky franchise.
And I still enjoy Rocky V.

And, as I understand it, they all have little logos already designed, don't they? I mean, I'm never going to see the movie, but it's a shame they showed those characters the way they did when there are an endless amounts of cool ways to introduce any one of the characters.

You spend enough time in this thread to know that, one way or another, it always cycles back to Batman eventually.

You'd almost think this place started as the Batman Hype.

It does feel like that sometimes. To be honest I've recently made a point of skimming through any Batman related posts in this thread. I'm guilty of talking Batman in this thread too, but it's become a little tiresome that every couple of weeks a brand new discussion about Batman crops up -especially when the character has half a dozen forums already dedicated to it.

From what I can tell looking around the e-space, there's one thing getting criticism. You get 3 guesses. The first 2 don't count.

That's exactly what it's like, damn. I wouldn't be surprised if that was the original intention and they just shoehorned it into the movie

Guilty as charged:woot::cwink: That said I'd rather discuss my (unpopular?) Batman or whatever related opinions in this thread where I find posters to be more civil and open minded than in some of the batman or bvs threads:woot:
Also Batman is all I want to talk about:cwink:

Watching a Cracked video about 5 childish bad mistakes in movies, one of them is people hanging phones on the call without saying goodbye.
Never thought of it before.

I can only imagine they get a call back seconds after the scene ends where the character is asked why they hung up.

I thought you were Batman? :viw:

I agree, I've never visited the dedicated Batman forums but I've heard the stories. This thread's regulars are a (mostly) polite and respectful bunch.

Deleted scenes.

Now I imagine some folks watching a movie in theaters, a person ends the call without saying goodbye, and the one on the receiving end calls back in the most dragging scene filled with sappy dialogue, and their reaction to that annoyance and cringe is epic facepalms.

Yeah, I actually thought the teaser was better than any of the TFA teasers/trailers because you actually got a sense of the story.

.

Yeah, Luthor gave them ****ing logos. :funny: That's all that you need to know about the decision making process behind this movie. It's really just the thing that we feared worst case Marvel films would be years ago.

Unrelated, but my criticisms of the Rogue One trailer are more of what the trailer suggests it could wind up being. But a couple things here and there within the trailer.

I mean for God's sake, an actual dramatic beat are two people saying, "Is that clear?" "Yes sir."

I'm just a little concerned for this new SW plan. Episode VIII is really the biggest hope for me at this point.

-I don't think that "Edge of Tomorrow" was a bad title for the movie. I heard a lot of people chalk up the lack of success it had to the title. While "Live. Die. Repeat" is better I still think Edge of Tomorrow fits.

I have hope in the SW plan my worry is that it's going to be: young (insert character here) stories a lot of the time. This is an unpopular opinion, but I dont care much about a young Han Solo movie, I don't care about a young/solo Boba Fett movie I wanna see "original character" stuff like Rogue One. While Rogue One trailer didn't really impress me, it was a teaser and I always feel like it's difficult to be negative toward a teaser.

I just hope the spin offs they make some not "dire situation ones" . For example I'd love a podracing movie (random: but with Harry Potter spin offs I'd love a Quidditch movie). No huge stakes, just a sports movie except isntead of football, basketball, etc it's podracing. I think that could be really fun and a good way to mix things up with Star Wars movies

At the end of the day, I have faith in what SW is doing. So far only what like 2 movies have been announced. I just hope in Rogue One's next trailer they show some personality.

EDIT: I know it was just a teaser, but Felicity Jones' character worries me. She seems to be making the same expression scene to scene. Or at the very least she seems so "muted"

I thought the teaser was dope. I like the idea of more original stories in the SW universe. Doing a bounty hunter, or like criminal underworld type story would be really cool too. See what happens behind-the-scenes of the war with the regular people.

I think the Han Solo film will be smaller scaled. I just don't give a **** seeing Han Solo before ANH. We need all that we need to know about Han the minute we see him. What made Han the way Han was in ANH? Jesus Christ, who cares? Nobody has ever wondered that. Lord and Miller are great filmmakers and are known for making bad ideas into gold so we'll see but right now, it's just another result of Disney just tapping into older ****.

Podracing is an interesting idea, but again, it's something that's been explored. Let's create something else. A lot of this just feels like Disney people checking off boxes and seeing what is most popular. Not a lot of it feels like things that are really that new and engaging. Just tapping into the familiarity and the fans will bite into it because they miss the feel of the OT so much, some not recognizing that it's just rather regressive.

I see your concern with Jones. She could very well be the next Aaron Taylor Johnson from Godzilla. Edwards has a great eye, but his characters are very much lacking where they're stilted as seen in Monsters and Godzilla. With his track record, Jyn could very well be a disappointment.

My main worry is that Disney will just keep pimp out OT **** to make it get more money. I want to see SW go in totally new directions. For the most part, TFA did that, but SW is more than just stormtroopers, X-Wings and TIE Fighters. Those are iconic because the film's stories were great. It's like Abrams had superficial understandings of what SW is in areas. There didn't need to be any of those things in this movie. The story was great on its own and the new elements would have become iconic. I guarantee if the prequels were more successful in their story, the aesthetics would have been better received, because visually, it's pretty great and creative and new for the most part.

I disagree with Abrams in that SW is about the little guy fighting the big guy. That's just one SW story. He seemed overly enamored with capturing ANH's feel such as The Resistance and The First Order it just doesn't make sense. I don't want to see ANOTHER ****ing Rebels vs Empire story for the next two movies. The Resistance and The First Order are just really weirdly silly and unclear things and is a case of Abrams wanting to have his cake and eat it too, yet it's inconsistent where Abrams had the confidence with the new characters and their promise of a lot of the story.

If these movies are just gonna keep cannibalizing past elements then this purchase isn't gonna be worth it. I'm starting to think if I made a SW film and put no OT imagery in it, I wonder if fans would say it feels like SW. I'm starting to get suspicious if fans can separate the stories from the iconography of them. Make great new stories with fresh ideas and new iconography will follow and THAT'S SW.

Either way, I do think audiences are sophisticated enough and they'll catch on soon enough that they just don't want to regurgitation of past elements.

I don't blame Edwards for that, at least not entirely. He didn't write Godzilla, nor did he write Rogue One. There weren't really any bad performances in Godzilla, the characters were just written very blandly save for Bryan Cranston's.

Micheal bay is doing something right with the transformers films. Each film does better than the last and they are highly entertaining. Critics and fans must have got it wrong because there must be an audience for these movies to make as much money as they do.
