Calvin Candie was a hilariously dark character that should have gotten him a best supporting.

I agree. I actually think he was slightly better than Waltz, who was awesome. But I think DiCaprio was even better.

I personally think SLJ was better than all of them and shouldve gotten a nod

I think Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy have both given much more Oscar-worthy performances than The Revenant.

Hardy should have been nominated for Legend instead of The Revenant.

And he should have been nominated for Bronson and Warrior. Bronson at the very least.

Bronson was a DDL-level performance.

He should've gotten an Oscar nom just for that Bane voice. :o

I liked Bronson the first time I watched it, but then didn't like it the second time around. Chopper is a much better movie following the exploits of a notorious real-life convict, in my opinion. Eric Bana's performance is much more memorable than Hardy's as well.

Of course that could just be my Down Under bias talking.

Nah, I'm not from Down Under, and I agree Chopper>>Bronson. Though I did like both.

Outside of the gasoline scene, Zoolander is not funny.

Hardy will get his awards attention eventually. It is inevitable.

Unpopular opinion about the movie... Let's se. Oh, yes!

Drive, yet visually stunning, is a pretentious piece of garbage, as are all Refn's movies except maybe Bronson.

I'd argue Bronson is almost objectively pretentious, whether one likes the film or not.

Dont agree on Drive, Neon Demon on the other hand, shlock.

No offense, but that's not something I thought I'd ever see written. Seeing as this is the unpopular opinion thread, I personally think Eric Bana is one of the blandest, dullest leading actors ever.

Even though Gyllenhaal is a better actress in general, I thought Holmes played the role better to be honest. Never understood the hate either.

I agree with all of this statement.

However, I still wish they would've brought in Rachel McAdams instead of Maggie Gyllenhaal, since apparently she was on the list of people being considered for the role.

I still don't get the love for Drive. That's one of those movie opinions I just don't understand

I'd probably agree with you if I hadn't seen Chopper. I haven't seen Bana in a role since that would lead me to believe he has any kind of exceptional acting ability otherwise. The talent is in there somewhere, hiding away for the last 15+ years. Tom Hardy certainly has a better track record for showcasing acting ability -it's only when comparing Bronson and Chopper that I'd put Bana out in front.

I'd probably agree with this if the only thing I'd seen him in was Hulk, lol. God, what a boring, lifeless performance.

I like some of the ideas, but that is how I ended up viewing the whole product.

Hey hey hey, you can't say it's lifeless once you see how Bana shakes his body playing rage doctor, almost like he's about to hurl, or resisting rabies. :oldrazz:

I have no problem with his performance in particular, everyone performed similarly in that movie, and lots of whispers.

Fair enough, I haven't seen Chopper. But everything I've seen Bana in he's been extremely boring. Not "bad" mind you, just really, really dull.

Alien is an overrated movie, it's good, it's enjoyable, but it's not what I'd list as one of the all time greats, it doesn't really hold up to that standard.

My James opinion might not be unpopular, but I'll state it anyway:
Quantum of Solace is a mess of a movie, there is joy to be found in it, the action is really good, but it's a messy story, and not a worthy successor to Casino Royale, which I find to be a great movie.

Bana is great in Chopper. Definitely worth watching.

He started off as a comedian, believe it or not lol. And in Chopper he puts his comedic timing to good use. As the years have gone on he seems to always be doing more stoic roles. So I don't think he's dull at all but he needs to do some more comedy or something. I could see him killing it in a Wes Anderson movie like Grand Budapest Hotel playing a really droll sarcastic character.

As for Rehn... yea his films are pretentious as ****. Although I do like a few of them. I don't begrudge him for his style though. He takes mainstream concepts and makes them as hyper stylized indie films. The first 2 Pusher films are awesome. And he always gets good performances.

I'm a Refn fan. I like Valhalla Rising and Only God Forgives, and love Bronson and Drive.
