This is a continuation thread, the old thread is [split]519115[/split]
OMG. "Misery porn" is a perfect description of Logan. You can dump any amount of boring exposition and "explanation" for that. But ultimately he's there for cheap thrills.I wish it reminded me of The Terminator, a movie that I watched zillion times. My reaction to it was "Wait, what?"I don't give a **** about the kids. There's no connection to them, unless you're too sentimental and just a sight of a puppy makes you tear up. Dead Xavier, the only interesting character in the entire film.
Whatever happened to Sabertooth? He was removed from the map after Origins.
I think something was very wrong with the character that made him forgotten for as long as he was, and the audience didn't care.
And I think they use some savage "clone" of the Wolverine in every Wolverine film because they can't come up with something interesting. They need them to roar at each other and slice their regenerating bodies. As soon as I heard about yet another clone, I seriously reduced my expectations for the film and man I wasn't wrong.I don't think X24 was there for cheap thrills. I think they purposefully used a savage, mindless clone of Logan instead of say, Sabertooth, for a reason. Logan up against his worst nightmare... himself out of control. The thing he always dreaded becoming.
It was frustrating how Xavier was treated like a box of avocados in the end. Ironically. The only character, that had a few chances to breath life into the film. The image of him brutally killing Chuck was powerful.
I felt sympathy for breeders in Fury Road for example, similar bunch of escapees. But in Logan they're a plot device. They're just there. I don't remember Laura even interacting with them in any meaningful way. I didn't notice any connection. The kids? Well we are shown the hell they are put through. We are not just told with exposition heavy dialogue. We're SHOWN. These kids have been through hell and are trying to find their place in the world. I could feel sympathy for them. They are Laura's family.
That's the saddest thing about his character, and he's supposed to be the evil Wolverine, hates the most. It's not up to the audience to decide what characters are chosen for a film. Frankly Liev Schrieber as Creed was always pointed out as a bright spot in ORIGINS. It just didn't work out to have him return. Why? I don't know. But whether he was remembered by the audience was likely immaterial.

Well, I tried to watch Big Trouble in Little China for the first time but I honestly couldn't get through the first 40 minutes. This is awful.
I thought the first 40 minutes were pretty meh first time I sat through the original Die Hard, then I sat through the rest to see why it's such a loveable film.Well, I tried to watch Big Trouble in Little China for the first time but I honestly couldn't get through the first 40 minutes. Some of you guys have dropped a lot of pretty massive spoilers for Logan on the last couple of pages. Personally I don't care if the film gets spoiled, but you might want to be a little more cautious with the spoiler-tags for those who do. If Logan was a film I was excited to see, I'd be pretty darn upset right now.
What? I did say it's awesome, it helped cement Steven E. de Souza as one of my favorite screen writers.
No kidding; I was avoiding the Logan threads because I haven't seen it yet, and didn't expect all of that stuff here. Some of you guys have dropped a lot of pretty massive spoilers for Logan on the last couple of pages. Agree.Unpopular movie opinion:
Every person who keeps shelling out money for bad Disney live action remakes needs to be slapped...
It didn't grab me straight on, and that made it a good thing to use in defense of Big Trouble in Little China. But the first 40 minutes though!

Elephant trunk periscope.Although anyone who thinks Tarzan is a Disney remake and doesn't know about the original books has no place ever speaking to me.
