OMG. "Misery porn" is a perfect description of Logan. You can dump any amount of boring exposition and "explanation" for that. But ultimately he's there for cheap thrills.I wish it reminded me of The Terminator, a movie that I watched zillion times. My reaction to it was "Wait, what?"I don't give a **** about the kids. There's no connection to them, unless you're too sentimental and just a sight of a puppy makes you tear up. Dead Xavier, the only interesting character in the entire film.

I don't think X24 was there for cheap thrills. I think they purposefully used a savage, mindless clone of Logan instead of say, Sabertooth, for a reason. Logan up against his worst nightmare... himself out of control. The thing he always dreaded becoming. The image of him brutally killing Chuck was powerful.

The kids? Well we are shown the hell they are put through. We are not just told with exposition heavy dialogue. We're SHOWN. These kids have been through hell and are trying to find their place in the world. I could feel sympathy for them. They are Laura's family.

I wasn't bored by the farmhouse scene. It worked on multiple levels both as a release valve and strangely also ramping up the tension. I was worried throughout that something terrible would happen, but I wasn't guaranteed it would happen... Until it did.

Whatever happened to Sabertooth? He was removed from the map after Origins.
I think something was very wrong with the character that made him forgotten for as long as he was, and the audience didn't care.

It's not up to the audience to decide what characters are chosen for a film. Frankly Liev Schrieber as Creed was always pointed out as a bright spot in ORIGINS. It just didn't work out to have him return. Why? I don't know. But whether he was remembered by the audience was likely immaterial.

And I think they use some savage "clone" of the Wolverine in every Wolverine film because they can't come up with something interesting. They need them to roar at each other and slice their regenerating bodies. As soon as I heard about yet another clone, I seriously reduced my expectations for the film and man I wasn't wrong.

It was frustrating how Xavier was treated like a box of avocados in the end. Ironically. The only character, that had a few chances to breath life into the film.

I felt sympathy for breeders in Fury Road for example, similar bunch of escapees. But in Logan they're a plot device. They're just there. I don't remember Laura even interacting with them in any meaningful way. I didn't notice any connection.

That's the saddest thing about his character, and he's supposed to be the evil Wolverine, hates the most.

Another clone? There wasn't one in The Wolverine. Origins had the Deadpool amalgamation thingy. X2 had Lady Deathstrike. Of course Laura in this film. That's it. So I'm not quite sure what you're talking about.

Either way, X24 fits in context with this particular story and the history from the comics, where shady agencies are trying to either turn Logan into a living weapon, or create one using his DNA. And it adds another ripple to the character of Wolverine with him facing the thing he fears the most; himself. All these X movies Wolverines conflict has been with himself. Trying to retain his humanity. To control his animal side. But we've never really seen it until this film. Actually using a clone of Logan to fully personify this conflict was pretty cool in my opinion.

I get what you're saying with the kids. But then I don't really think we need much more exploration of them. It's a simple and human premise. Kids bred to be killers want to choose their own path and be free of their "programming" or destiny. Any one can connect to that plight. I thought the finale was executed well.

Well, I tried to watch Big Trouble in Little China for the first time but I honestly couldn't get through the first 40 minutes. This is awful.

I started out the same way and came out at the end realizing exactly what Carpenter was going for.
Man...I miss those kinds of directors.

I thought the first 40 minutes were pretty meh first time I sat through the original Die Hard, then I sat through the rest to see why it's such a loveable film.

Some of you guys have dropped a lot of pretty massive spoilers for Logan on the last couple of pages. Personally I don't care if the film gets spoiled, but you might want to be a little more cautious with the spoiler-tags for those who do. If Logan was a film I was excited to see, I'd be pretty darn upset right now.

No kidding; I was avoiding the Logan threads because I haven't seen it yet, and didn't expect all of that stuff here.

Every person who keeps shelling out money for bad Disney live action remakes needs to be slapped.....What? I said it would be unpopular.

I really liked The Jungle Book and I'm excited for The Lion King.

I really liked the Jungle book but otherwise totally uninterested myself. if folks want to watch them and enjoy, great! Just not for me.

Although anyone who thinks Tarzan is a Disney remake and doesn't know about the original books has no place ever speaking to me.

I watched Toy Soldiers again after more than a decade since I last saw it, it's still an entertaining good movie.

Elephant trunk periscope.

I mean, can you even call The Jungle Book and The Lion King 'live action' remakes when they're like 90% CGI lol
