Black Panther is underrated on here. If marvel wanted to play it safe, as they often get called out for doing, they could’ve made BP into “the lion king” but instead they allowed Coogler to go deeper and actually made a great movie enjoyed by fans of the genre and the GA.

I hated Who Framed Roger Rabbit when I was a youngling, I still hate it.

And I like that prequels Obi Wan word.

Though the plotline was underdeveloped, I like that Rogue took the cure in The Last Stand.

Strange Days is a great film. It had a pretty polarizing to apathetic reception when it came out. And I wish it had a bigger following. It doesn't even have a traditional cult following. I'd settle for that at least because this movie deserves something more than being buried like it has. It simple has too much great talent behind it to be totally ignored.

Anyone ever notice that Ralph Fiennes in Strange Days is a dead ringer for Bradley Cooper today?

Been developed for two movies, she couldn't feel comfortable with her abilities.

Also one of the better soundtracks I heard. Lewis has some voice!

From the bat, before I go into my 'dislike' aspect of the post, I'll say, I love Spielberg, his films help shape me & my youth, however, Close Encounters.

I still like it as a film, for all it's sci-fi & its visuals, but at the heart for me, is a man who leaves his family (and without much thought or feeling for their part in it all too) for a personal 'mission'.

The whole notion of having children is to nurture, encourage, inspire and most of all, do not abandon their will, their love, their need for security & refuge in what you as a parent should wish, want and aspire for them.

The main male lead character refuses all this and waltzes off with someone who 'believes' in his ultimate dream. Your children and their own lives should be your ultimate dream, if you've had children, they are too be cherished.

I'm unable to have children and that whilst saddens me, I've learnt to work round that one but the thought of being able to have them and then abandon all my principles for a 'higher purpose' as Dreyfus does, I don't get and it frankly ruins the film for me, I can't invest in a man who would do that, so all the (for its time) amazing SFX, music and wonderment of the occasion is lost on me I'm afraid due to the morality (or lack of) the main character, and one can build as many mountains out of mash as you like, you won't convince me otherwise.

Agreed. One of Angela Bassett's best roles.

Agree on Strange Days. I remember renting that one without knowing or read anything about it, and was gladly surprised. Great cast, and it's a pity rather few seems to know about. Need to rewatch it soon, must've been 20 years ago.

Yes, whenever I find myself wishing for Kathryn Bigelow to go back to her genre roots, it's Strange Days I'm thinking of, not Near Dark.

Speaking of movies from the '90s, Dark City is underrated too. Plus The Matrix took obvious heavy inspiration from it both stylistically and thematically and then got 10x the attention.

-Terminator Salvation is a fantastic Terminator movie and one of my favorites ranked up there with T1 & T2.

-The Crow Salvation (the third Crow movie) is the best sequel film in the series. (of course nothing will beat the first film)

-Captain America Civil War was a mediocre film

-Rob Zombie Halloween Films are better than Carpenters (but I still love the classic Carpenter films)

-As much as I hate Jar Jar Binks, I would rather watch the prequel trilogy on repeat than to watch the current Star Wars films.

-I'm not a Matt Damon fan. I've tried several of his films that have gotten high praise. I cant see him as a convincing action star or drama star. Just not a fan.

-As much as I like Tom Holland as Spiderman I was not a fan of Spiderman Homecoming.

Dark City is amazing

Agree with some of your others though.

No way. Point Break is where it's at. :cwink:

Not a big Point Break fan. No relation but not a big Face/Off fan either. I think Under Siege or Hard Target are better:woot:

My second least favorite of them all, after Genysis. On a related note, Kristina Lokken was a great Terminator and gave an underrated performance in T3, a decent entry in the series, along with the Sarah Connors Chronicles, both better than Salvation, which had its qualities, and mostly than genysis, the nadir for me.

I have only seen the first two. I liked the 1st one.

Strong words lol, but to each their own. I thought it was mostly generic and serviceable but still entertaining like most marvel films.

=Rob Zombie Halloween Films are better than Carpenters (but I still love the classic Carpenter films)
Disagree, but once again to each its own. I like some of Zombie's music and he has great taste and great visuals but his wife is not a very good actress and his sense of story is not the best.
-As much as I hate Jar Jar Binks, I would rather watch the prequel trilogy on repeat than to watch the current Star Wars films.
Disagree again, but I'd watch a dark redemptive Jar Jar solo film, just because it would be such an amazing challenge to pull it off lol:woot:

Another underrated performance: Damon's Mr. Ripley, where he holds his own against the late, great Philip Seymour Hoffman.

-As much as I like Tom Holland as Spiderman I was not a fan of Spiderman Homecoming.
Agreed. Holland is great, but I wasn't a fan of the film either. He should play Tintin in a live action version:woot:

OMG, this would be perfect casting! ...And now my frustration only increases when I realize the guy I just said would be perfect casting as ****ing Tintin is actually cast as Nathan Drake. :csad:

Some recent ones for me.

-Nocturnal Animals: Not a good movie at all. It's kind of weirdly misogynistic, the opening sequence is disgusting and has nothing to do with the movie's narrative or it's themes. It also has random horror movie moments that don't really add up to anything at all. Good performances though, just wasted on a pretentious film.

-Hugo: Amazing set design and cinematography, horribly boring in everything else. One of Scorsese's weaker efforts.

I can't help but gif a  for this casting choice.

Shutter Island>The Departed.
Two movies I need to get in and watch.
