Statham. Franco. HOMEFRONT.

The thing is Statham keeps doing these mediocre, derivative projects in order to keep working. Some of which are borderline DTV movies.

It just surprises me though that after Apes and 127 Hours that Franco still does work like this. I imagine he does it to stay working and keep his managers and agents happy.

At the same time, I think managers and agents are getting pretty weird putting their clients in some of the crap I've seen as of late.

i understand Franco doing the Apatow comedies. hell, his career started on Freaks & Geeks so it suits him.

but seriously though Spring Breakers and now this?

As you have said yourself about other actors making this kind of flick, he's gotta eat!

Statham and Franco sold sold all the way.

I actually like how Franco is doing left field movies.

I actually like those movies. Straight up, old school action flicks.

Hunter Rider, Halle Berry I can understand since her career is in serious decline. Bruce Willis as well since he's a married to a younger super model and is on his second marriage and has a bunch of kids.

I just figure a guy like Franco has lots of money buy now and can pretty much pick his projects and do whatever he wants. He can do the smaller personal art films and have his pick of the bigger roles. I mean he's not Leonardo DiCaprio level. And I'm not saying I never enjoy some Jason Statham action, but just seems like his career is a few steps above a movie such as this now.

But ultimately I wonder if this means now we are going to see higher level actors taking more of these weird surprising roles and showing up more in flicks we wouldn't expect.

Like Wednesday I am seeing this movie called Erased with Aaron Eckhart. It's like a CIA thriller and unfortunately the invite was the first I even heard of it. I just figured Eckhart was a bigger star now and would be getting more promotion.

Franco has never really been the main man in anything he's been in that made big money, even in Apes he was support to Caesar, plus how much of his earnings has he smoked? who knows. I mean Willis has expenses but the dude was a $20M a picture man for years, Franco has never been close to that level, he's very much a second tier actor IMO.

The other possibility is all these guys are looking for their Taken, but Franco isn't gonna find it in the bad guy role, this project seems like the same sort of thing he did with Green Hornet.

If Oz does well, Franco's stock will go up, even if he isn't a fan favorite.

Not really. Here he is the actual villain.

Green Hornet was the definition of cameo for a friend. Seth Rogen is his buddy and sometimes co-star and Rogen was also writer of the producer of the movie. Basically he did that scene in Green Hornet because of Seth Rogen.

I think Franco just loves doing unexpected roles. I honestly don't think he would have done OZ if Raimi weren't involved.

I know this might come as a complete shock, but maybe, just maybe, the script is better than Statham's usual fare?

Yeah, I want to see an action movie with a good story. F*** me, right?

Simmer down dude love. I'd like to believe that's true, but Statham doesn't seem to care much about how good the script is.

I agree. Just a couple of years ago he did a stint on General Hospital.

Franco is gonna ham this **** up. Cannot wait.

I love that shot of Franco; as if he just emerged from Hell or something.

Franco is the villain and Staham the good guy? ohhhh s..

I'm ready to give them my money. I've always liked Franco, but after seeing the Comedy Central Roast of James Franco, he has earned even more points with me. It's like the guy just doesn't care and does whatever he wants to do at any given moment. I respect that.

Probably because all the previous roastees have been Z listers.

Franco's relevant and more than likely done it as a favour or something.
