I wrote out this response in the believe or not thread:

Before the universe, scientists believe there was a singularity. If time was not created until the universe was made (such as BBT), then searching for a meaning behind what created the singularity may be impossible. If time was not required for this singularity, there was no beginning.

The age old question of "How is there something from nothing?" may be a way for religion to fill in the blanks with "There had to be a creator." but if consciousness is obtained from a biological being such as a human, then a God seems rather unlikely to scientific minded methodological individuals. In this frame of thought: it would appear more likely that a random event and non conscious creation was responsible for the expansion into the universe.
A theist seems to use God as a way to explain the unexplainable. Man's vision of God seems to suggest a creator with a conscious mind. An atheist seems to accept that it can't be explained, and chooses not to insert a variable creator to fill the void. Science has the understanding that the brain gives way to consciousness. A brain dead individual appears to not have consciousness. To accept a non biological being, as God and creator, as making a conscious choice to create the universe is a difficult leap for agnostic minded individuals.

I had no idea, the real important issue to discuss could be as simple as steak.


Steak is great. It is real. It is obtainable. Agnostic and religious alike can agree to steak. Let's all agree to fully discount vegetarians in the agreement of our love for steak.
