Stephen King's "The Stand"

A tv series would give it the proper amount of run time this needs, the more episodes the better. :)

Josh Boone seems to be getting ready to start working on his version of The Stand and it's exciting to see that Owen King will be involved.

Casting is always key but for King adaptations, even moreso. Hope they can cast the right people.

From reading the novel, I think Tom Hiddleston would make an excellent Randall Flagg a.k.a. The Walkin Dude

Really digging the casting choices on this but I'm still annoyed that it's on CBS All Access. I guess I'll have to break down and subscribe.

Why did they cast a good looking thin guy for Harold?

That ****ing sucks.

In an ideal world they’ll cast Skarsgard in Amazon’s Dark Tower series too.

In an ideal world, McConaughey would be doing both in good adaptations.

It’d be a very ideal world...

I'm not keen on Skarsgard as Flagg. He's too pretty and has this on the nose sinister quality to him. McConaughey is the only known actor I could have accepted as Flagg. I wish they went with an unknown.

Yeah, was kinda hoping for McConaughey to come back for Flagg. Whenever I read The Stand or the Dark Tower series I can’t help but hear his Texas drawl now.

McConaughey would be perfect for this version of Flagg, unfortunately they cast him as the Dark Tower Flagg, which he's poorly suited.

Skarsgard is a really uninspiring choice. It seems they wanted to go the more obvious route, having a handsome, intense Flagg. But that's never how I saw the character. To me, Flagg is a grinning buffoon, most of the time. Until he's not. McConaughey can play that same intense insanity. From what I've seen of Skarsgard, though, I'm not convinced he has that in him.

In an ideal world, McConaughey never would have played him at all because that Dark Tower movie never would have been made.

Whoopi Goldberg as Mother Abigail? Lol, okay.

And Amber Heard, wow, that's top quality.

I had Hell or High Water on the other day, Chris Pine and Ben Foster would have been a good Stu Redman/Randall Flagg duo in either direction, or Flagg/Lloyd Henreid.

Particularly interested that King is writing a new ending for the story for this series.

I need to seek out some of this guy's better performances because I haven't seen anything from him to suggest he could pull off Flagg. Apparently he's great in Big Little Lies.

He's fine in Big Little Lies.

I guess.... we'll wait and see?
