I liked your entry on his Blog Triplet.

Hmmm... I wish he had replied to it. :(

Oh, well.

I think it's cool that he's reaching out to the fans in various forums.

If nothing else, it's good P.R.

He's gonna be in for a shock if he lurks at certain Smallville sites lol

The Buffy writers did this stuff all the time and were used to the hate. I guess it started all nice then became how it is now with all the constant complaining. In other words he knows exactly what he's in for.

He's made a couple of revealing comments about the S5 DVD's.

I meant to copy a few to post here, but I forgot. LOL.. Off the top of my head, he did say that he was recording commentary to Splinter with James Marsters (he didn't mention Tom though :().. and there was a comment about another ep that was getting commentary, but I'll have to look that up again. Maybe Cindy can find it before I get back from work - it's on his myspace.

It was Thirst, I believe....

Yeah, it was Thirst. He was doing it with Al/Miles and Ken Horton I believe.

I wonder, since he's obviously on writing hiatus, if he's been asked to do this by TPTB or whether its something he's doing himself.

I really liked the post he made at Sweet. He really knew how to reach out to the group over there and he just might help them understand why their loving couple cant be together all the time.

I think its a great PR idea.

Admitting Ageless sucked was kinda funny..

Did he explain anywhere how/where/what went wrong with that episode?

Yeah, he said that originally he was going to direct a "Night of Smallville Living Dead" episode and they'd changed the episode on him and he wasn't happy about it.

He did say that the exploding baby wasn't his idea.... :D

I think it was a writer's room discussion. He regretted later on that he didnt fight for what he thought was a bad idea.

seems like a good excuse..

I didn't really hate Ageless, but there was definitely something odd going on there, even when compared with any other episode..
and it ain't "exploding baby" either.. just don't know what it is, I guess..:)

I'm of similar opinion. I didn't abhor Ageless. It had some interesting elements, especially with Clark. Well, big surprise there; I *always* fixate on him. :p

DeKnight touched on some fascinating points, not the least of which was Clark's concern of never being able to have his own children *cough*SR*cough* Sorry - had something in my throat. I also really enjoyed the exchange between Clark and Jonathan when they were speculating that Evan might be like Clark - sent to Earth by his Kryptonian parents in order to survive its destruction. But that had already been tackled to a certain extent in "Visitor." The only thing that bugged me about the exploding baby concept (LOL) was its "empty" feeling at the end. I wanted to see something a little more... I dunno... "paranormal" there. But the kid just died. Meh. It was kind of pointless. Other than a few wardrobe continuity glitches, that's my only beef. There were FAR worse episodes in the series, IMHO. ;)

I actually thought it would have been better if the kid had been left as a kid and not transformed into a teenager. I wasnt able to connect with him when that happened. Whereas the little boy I could feel some emotion with.

I think Lana and Clark were thrown together too quickly as well. Why were they out late at night driving?

I agree on all your Clark points, I loved the scene on the porch with his parents. :)

I liked that too.

Today from Steve's Blog.

Thanks for the kind words. Loved writing Mercy all the way around. As for new powers, superbreath is high on the list. And it's a short list, since we've covered just about all of Superman's powers.

YAY!

Your welcome. I wonder how soon? Could he make a mess when he blows out his birthday cake candles in Oracle? :D

As funny as that would be to see, I imagine they'll write an entire episode around it like they usually do. There really is a LOT that they could do with such an ability for Clark. I think it's one of those powers that's underappreciated because nobody has been very creative with it, but it has a lot of potential.

I was only joking, as I'm sure you realised, but there are so many times when I can see Clark using that power if he had it.

Like you say they will write a whole episode around it and they've probably been waiting for the right story. Although an extra ability could come in handy with his upcoming battles.

Oh, we've come up with quite a few funny reveals for superbreath. The B-day cake is just one of 'em.

Well, no argument there. If the virus Lex is developing has Kryptonian origins, maybe it'll make Clark sneeze?

...Whoops! Sorry about the wall, Ma. But hey, we always needed a window there. Now we have one. :O

:D

You know what's interesting, I usually hate his writing. He does have some winners (Mortal, Onyx) but when he's off(Ageless, Tomb) he's really off.

I have to give him much respect for this effort though. How many writers of a show with such a opinionated fan base actually have the gall to face the masses as it were? His credo as a writer went up alot in my book.
I hope he listens and delivers some of the more thought out feedback to the writer's room. Maybe our say will make a difference, but probably not. When it deals with the bottom line, and the dollar sign, they will end up doing what they want anyway.:(

But bravo on his part. :)

Some of the things that he can do with his Superbreath in an episode would be freeze one of the Lakes in SV to save a building of a burning forest. But how can he find out that he has that power?
(1) Blow away The Cake
(2) Freeze a cup of water
(3) Gets a cold in season 6

ect, ect...
