Steven Spielberg & Daniel Day Lewis' Lincoln

What the hell man? War Horse doesn't sound that great, although it could be very good, it doesn't sound that interesting. Neeson was effing perfect for this.

i think War Horse is a fantastic movie for the Beard. but lets face it . the Lincoln movie with Neeson would be perfection and a masterpiece. two humans who were born to create this movie.

****ing Spielberg. I dunno what's been up with him. He had Lincoln, a masterpiece in the making, but couldn't get it made. Then he had Interstellar, another potential masterpiece, but said **** it. Now he wants to make a movie about a kid and a horse with no well-known actors. uggghhh

This is ridiculous. Neeson worked his ash off researching that part, this was probably going to be his magnum opus as an actor. Not to mention the movie was likely to be awesome in it's own right. I remember in early 2006 two of my most anticipated movies were this and the Manhunt movie starring Harrison Ford. Now they're both gone. :csad:

If Lewis gets this consider me in again. But I can't thin of anyone else who can play the man.

So what exactly was the problem? Did the studio not put up enough funding or what...?

I guess all the dozens of projects Spielberg has. Maybe not everything has come together correctly. I doubt funding has anything to do with it. It's Spielberg, they'd do anything he asks for. So I guess maybe it was just Spielberg's choices on what he does with each project. Maybe War Horse just seemed more possible to do.

I'd rather see this than Water horse. That doesn't sound terribly intersting.

So basically Spielberg vagged out? Lame.

I'm just guessing. War Horse just might have seem more possible and fit in with him so he did that.

I wanted this sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo bad.

Neeson seemed perfect , this blows.

I think Spielberg heard about the project that would have Lincoln as a vampire slayer and thought he wouldn't be able to top it.

LOL! Would be funny if Neeson signed on for that instead.

Daniel Day Lewis to Play Abraham Lincoln

LOS ANGELES – (Business Wire) Two-time Academy Award winner Daniel Day-Lewis will star as the 16th President of the United States in DreamWorks Studios’ Lincoln to be directed by Steven Spielberg. The announcement was made today by Spielberg and Stacey Snider, Co-Chairman and CEO of DreamWorks Studios.

“Daniel Day-Lewis would have always been counted as one of the greatest of actors, were he from the silent era, the golden age of film or even some time in cinema’s distant future. I am grateful and inspired that our paths will finally cross with Lincoln,” said Steven Spielberg. “Throughout his career, he has been exceptionally selective in his choice of material,” added Stacey Snider, “which makes us feel even more fortunate that he has chosen to join with us for Lincoln.”

Based on the best-selling book, Team of Rivals, by Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Doris Kearns Goodwin, the screenplay has been written by the Pulitzer Prize winner, Tony Award winner, and Academy Award nominated writer Tony Kushner. It will be produced by Kathleen Kennedy and Steven Spielberg.

It is anticipated that the film will focus on the political collision of Lincoln and the powerful men of his cabinet on the road to abolition and the end of the Civil War.

Doris Kearns Goodwin won her Pulitzer Prize for No Ordinary Time, the story of Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt and the home front in World War II. Kushner’s prize was for his play Angels in America, which later became an Emmy Award-winning television special. He had previously worked with Spielberg on Munich for which he was nominated for an Oscar in the Adapted Screenplay category.

Filming is expected to begin in the fall of 2011 for release in the fourth quarter of 2012 through Disney’s Touchstone distribution label.

Wow. I know old Danny picks his roles like a serial killer picks his victims..methodically. So he must really see something in being able to take on Abe. Plus, Spielbergo helming didn't hurt.

Good that Spielberg is doing this instead of Robopocalypse, and Daniel Day-Lewis as Abraham?
He's a great replacement for Neeson and will do a wonderful performance, that's for sure.

Daniel Day-Lewis as Honest Abe?

I'd hit it .

Looks-wise, I would've preferred Liam, but Daniel's a great actor, so I'm not too broken up about it.

Maybe Neeson can play the vampire-hunting Abe!

Abe- There's something you should know. I have very special skills....

I honestly think, in terms of appearance, DDL is closer to Lincoln than Neeson.

Just my opinion, though.

how tall are the two actors respectively? You as awesome as DDL is something in me still wishes this part was going to an American actor. Lincoln played by a Brit/Irishmen is almost like if they had and Aussie play William Wallace. Oh wait...

Fifty internet bucks says this gets DDL his third Oscar.

I'd say it's fairly likely.
