Looks more like Franklin Pierce to me.
I don't see that.
I'm stoked about this news. Daniel Day Lewis is an awesome choice. I wont lie though, I am still bummed Neeson didn't get the role, but if anyone was going to replace him, I'm glad it's DDL.
I'm not saying they're twins, but IMO he resembes Pierce more than he does Lincoln.
Stephen McHattie (300) is virtually a carbon copy of Abe Lincoln.
If anything Danny Day in this project should get it rolling faster. But on the other hand I'm still not holding my breath with Spielberg. He has so many damn films lined up right now. Currently making Water Horse, then another TinTin, Interstellar, Robopocylapse, and a possible Indiana Jones 5. All of that besides Lincoln. It could still be several years before this movie gets made and Spielberg announces he is directing a new movie bi-annually.
But Lincoln will be Spielberg's next project, he was supposed to do Robopocalypse after War Horse but I'm guessing that project has been pushed back, the press release Spielberg and Stacey Snider (CEO of Dreamworks) released stated that "Filming is expected to begin in the fall of 2011". http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=71787
Yeah I just recently read that. Great if true, hopefully it goes as planned then.
That's the keyword.
With Day-Lewis onboard I'm sure this project is on fast-track and also since none of Spielberg's other projects hasn't finished the script yet he doesn't have anything else on the plate, the same goes for Day-Lewis.
i expect a oscar movie...
Day-Lewis is just gold as Abe.
fantastic choice since Leeson couldnt do it.
So Lewis is already in Illinois already preparing for the role. Damn, the day after he's annonced, a day later he's already in Illinois.
I'm glad they got Day-Lewis, a role like this needs an actor that's going to be incredibly dedicated to the part. Still a shame, though. Neeson put all that work into researching Lincoln and has nothing to show for it.
I'll admit I always had a little trouble seeing Liam Neeson as Lincoln. He's got the height, but his face shape doesn't seem narrow enough.
Day-Lewis is almost as tall as Neeson, he's got the right shape, and he has a thinner longer face. With makeup, I can see him as Lincoln.
Plus we know Day-Lewis prepares for his roles obsessively, so I'm expecting a pretty faithful portrayal of Lincoln.
Day-Lewis is so obsessed he will be saying forescore and seven years ago weeks after the cameras stop rolling.
I'm all for that. It's a win-win situation.
Paul Dano for John Wilkes Booth!
But in all seriousness, if any one is better than Neeson, Daniel Day is it.
Day-Lewis is the best living film actor in the world. With that said, Liam Neeson was perfect casting and I am honestly disappointed Speilberg put it off so long he cannot do it. This role was absolutely perfect for Neeson.
But Daniel Day-Lewis is a wonderful replacement.
Some manips of DDL as Lincoln. I pretty much have an erection:
Though it does make me wonder. Do you think they'll leave DDL's ears alone, or will they give him prosthetics? Lincoln's got some pretty distinctive, big-ass ears.
No, man, they won't give them to him. Lewis will ****ing grow them himself and learn to live with them.
This article is two months old, but whatever:
I wonder if Spielberg is passed his bleach bypass phase yet...
