Even though I was looking forward seeing Liam Neeson in the role. I can't complain since we got Daniel Day-Lewis instead.
It's nice that this is Spielberg next project since it came to a halt for a while so certainly with Day-Lewis on-board this biopic, it can start moving forward.

I find it a little spooky that Day-Lewis ended up replacing Neeson, seeing as he played Neeson's arch-rival in Gangs of New York, which also took place in the Lincoln era.

I'm really itching for news regarding this project, even though we are months out from shooting.

Good. More time for Daniel Day-Lewis to prepare for the role and deliver another groundbreaking performance.

I will never forgive those halfwit bald geezers at the Academy for giving Adrien freakin' Brody the Best Actor Oscar over Daniel Day-Lewis' Bill The Butcher. :cmad:

"Why don't you burn him and see if his ashes turn green?"

Bill the Butcher is iconic. It's an absolute sham that he didn't win.

But I tell you what. I really hope he knocks this out of the park, because he could become the first actor to win three Academy Awards.

That's what they said about Tom Hanks in Saving Private Ryan. So, let's not jump to conclusions on a movie that may or may not get made...and that's another 2-3 years away from getting released.

Bill is my favorite Lewis role.

"I know your works. You are neither cold nor hot. So because you are lukewarm, I will spew you out of my mouth. You can build your filthy world without me. I took the father. Now I'll take the son."

I think Daniel Day Lewis is a fantastic choice for Lincoln, and probably even better than Neeson. Here's hoping Neeson plays his father or something. :)

For "My Left Foot", Daniel Day Lewis never left the wheelchair during filming.

For "The Last of the Mohicans", he spent months living outdoors.

For "Gangs of New York", he worked as a butcher and refused to be treated for pneumonia because it wasn't in keeping with the period.

I wonder what crazy method acting techniques he'll use to prepare for his role as Lincoln?

Too soon, even for being 150 years ago. Lincoln deserves more than that, he was one of the finest to ever step on this Earth.

Walter Brennan has three supporting actor wins and Jack Nicholson has 2 Best Actor and a Best Supporting Actor. Technically not what you meant, but they still have three. But I'm all for DDL getting three Best Actor wins should this turn out great.

Was it? I remember her name coming up for this a couple days ago.

Anyway, I want this movie in my life now. Daniel Day Lewis is playing Abraham Lincoln. I still can't believe that.

Sally Field is much older than Mary Todd Lincoln was during her husband's presidency. In fact, she's older than Mary Todd Lincoln was when she died.

Though with modern makeup, I don't suspect that matters.
