can anybody tell me why spider-man now has stingers

spiders don't have stingers

allow me to sume up what you will hear from here on out

"DAMN YOU BENDIS!"

now, they are not without foundation on this, but this will be the gist of what you get.

Bendis didn't write "The Other." Good try though.

Spiders have Venom and Fangs could be an attempt to show him growing and developing better means of fighting villains by stinging/poisoning them for a time. I don't know I haven't read it.

Spiders don't have a magical spider-sense either... nor do they shoot webs from their extremities. Spider-Man's powers have always been "sort of" spidery. Stingers would be sort of like a spider's fangs.

Bendis had absoluetly nothing to do with this

in any case, unstoppable, it was an extremely stupid "developement" of the character from a very bad recent story arc called "The Other" that is totally likely to be forgotten about and never spoken of again

Who wants to bet that we won't see the spider spikes again outside of the 'The Other'?

new joe fridays, jms basicly confirmed that we would never see them again, what a waste of a story! (then again it was a waste even if they did use them)

Wait, are we talking about the things on the back of his IronSpider suit?

no, these were biological spikes, part of a series of new lame powers he got when he died and then mutated

So... what would the fangs Spider-Man also grew be sort of like, then?

Yeah, I read The Other hardcover. Guess I was too overwhlemed with his new ability to talk to spiders to notice the stingers :o

Here's the real reason: Wolverine's popular, right? What do people like about Wolverine? Da clawz! How could we make Spider-Man more popular? Give him da clawz too! What's that? Spider's have nothing even remotely like claws, you say? Er... ok, we'll make da clawz... stingers!

did you like it, spoons?

No, I had a hard time time believing what was going on...even for a comic book. Eyes getting plucked out, Peter molting, telepathic webs, oy. I basically read it to get caught up with his new abilities.

What, no love for the part where the heretofore highly moralistic Spider-Man goes ape**** and eats Morlun's face?

you mean the ones that even Marvel editorial realizes are dumb and have said will never be used again?

:( Spiders eat faces now? I'm never going outside again.

I say keep the new suit but scrap the new powers

New suit goes bye-bye too. They made it just to get rid of it. The logic still elludes me.

It's kind of like how Spoiler was brought in as the new Robin after Tim Drake quit or Superman lost his powers during the year between Infinite Crisis and One Year Later. Everybody knew they wouldn't be permanent, but they created decent stories for a little while.

he used them when he fought that mexican wrestler in friendsly neightborhood spiderman #6...hah!....so.......what did i win??

Yeah, but his new powers were intended to last, then negated by the suit which was just a throwaway thing. Logic is completely missin' from this equation.

He popped them out again while fighting Stegron in Sensational Spider Man #27.
