Are there any stores you miss going to that have closed in the past few years?

For me, I miss the hell out of Borders.

Zellers. It was dirty, and disorganized, and it smelled kind of funny, but it had character. And cheap clothes.

(Zellers was a Canadian department store that got bought out and replaced by Target, by the by.)

Woolworths (in the UK) they went bust a few years back... 2008.
The bank they owed money to became very strict and decided to call in their loans immediately and Woolies simply could not raise that much cash immediately. And the rest is history.

Borders
Blockbuster
The Sharper Image
I think Barnes & Nobles will be gone soon too

we had Woolworths in the US for a good while as well. In fact, that's where a fair amount of my Transformers came from when I was a kid.

I also miss Kiddie City. It was a lot like Toys R Us but with a Kangaroo mascot.

Barnes has changed too much or at least ones near me...I remember where you could be able to sit in comfy couch right by the bookshelf and read. Now, 1/3 store is Nook Store another 1/3 is a Starbucks, and remainder is mostly kids and games section.

Can I just say I miss DZ Discovery Zone. I have no idea how Chuck E Cheese beat them. It was soo much bigger and soo much more fun as a kid.

I miss pretty much all of the above and also stores like Suncoast, FYE and Sam Goody.

Went there a few times as a kid! That was a fun place!

borders, KB toys. both were so close to where I lived..sighs

Not really a store, but I have nostalgia thinking about the arcade when I was a kid.

I could spend hours in Borders.
Me too, unfortunately this is one of the reasons it went out of business. Most people would go there read books and hang out but not buy anything, I know I did.

KB Toys. You could find some real gems there from a decade or more ago.

And Hills. Sort of the precursor to Wal-Mart in a lot of areas. Did anyone have Hills in their state?

I do kind of miss Suncoast. I really don't like the mess that absorbed it and Sam Goody.
