Storm vs Phoenix!

Since Storm grew up with Jean and knew her longer than Wolverine as a classmate at Xavier Academy should she have tried to reach out to her more than anyone else?

Should storm have at least sent a few tornados and a strategically placed hurricane at Phoenix just before Wolverine did that melodramatic long flesh flaying walk toward jean to kill her?

Wolverine did not officially have a consummated relationship with Jean to be all that upset over her switch to the darkside where as Storm was on the team with Jean years before Logan even showed up!

Storm: "OH... GIRLFRIEND!"

JEAN: "What do you want?"

Storm: "You're back from dead and you aint call a sister?"

yep! which is why this movie sucked so bad! the people involved with the making of this movie had no idea what they were doing and ddnt think things through.

OF COURSE there are a thousand scenarios and little things that would have made more sense. and thats just containing things that would make sense within the continuity of the movieverse.

I'd have loved to have seen a Storm vs Phoenix showdown.

However, the previous films presented no evidence of any sisterly friendship between Storm and Jean at all. They were more like people who work in different departments in the same office block which, I guess, is what they were - Jean in her infirmary or out talking about mutation, Storm teaching. I saw no evidence of a close friendship.

As for Storm's powers not being used more, well I guess her powers could effectively end any battle, so they have to be toned back to realistic levels. One might also ask why she didn't try to stop the descent of the jet in X2 (she has used winds to cushion a plummeting plane in the comics)....and how we have all conveniently forgotten all the pages of whining from the X2 days about why Storm and others didn't use their powers to help stop the wall of water erupting from the dam. And why did she wait so long before striking back at Toad in X1? And why didn't she fly up to the torch to rescue Rogue as soon as they arrived at Liberty Island?

There are countless scenarios where one might ask 'and why didn't x do blah'.... But most of them are fanboy/fangirl tantrums, not things that mainstream viewers/critics noticed. As fans we always want more. I'm always up for more power showdowns.

Storm? It would have been nice if anyone other than Wolverine had shown concern for Jean Grey who, ya know, died for all of them.

What about Storm and Magneto?

What class did he teach at Xavier academy before going AWOL?

FIGHT THE POWER 101

I am sure he must have tried to recruit Storm at one point even before recruiting Jean!

How exactly did she say know to him because in the movie her conversations with Nightcrawler imply a mistrust for humans that magneto would have exploited to the fullest extent!

Technically... he would have been the first one to call her Goddess!

That's an interesting idea, but I don't think Magneto's involvement with Xavier's school extends beyond its initial establishment... at least, not yet.

Indeed! Good points. Storm has incredible power at her disposal, and none of the instability of the Jean/Phoenix. (although Storm's moods do affect the weather, as we saw in X3). Storm also was as outraged by the cure as Magneto, she is as proud of her mutancy as he is. But she doesn't kill others as easily as he does - she has a greater moral code and sense of pride.

Points worth exploring in X-Men First Class perhaps, with Magneto trying to lure away the students to a new Brotherhood of radicals, rebels and terrorists!

do you really think ANYONE would have been able to last 5 seconds against this Dark Phoenix when she can disintergrate a person just by looking at them? im afraid as far as the film is concerned, Wolverine was the only one who stood a chance.

Well Dark Phoenix in the comics destroyed an entire solor system but the X-Men still fought against her. Problem is with the Last Stand was after Xavier's death they didn't continue with Phoenix's thirst for new sensations.

At the end the X-Men could have tried to take her down and Phoenix attacks them mentally and exploits their weakness, Storm's past and her clostrophobia, Wolverine and silver fox weapon x etc, Peter's family...And then every one gets out and Wolverine moves in. They could have done alot more if the film was a little longer.

but this isn't the comic, this is the film version where it's based in the real world and the Phoenix is just Jean without restraint, not a cosmic force experiencing life as a human for the first time. in the comic they never would have been able to tell a story if Jean could blink the X-Men out of existence. she didn't waste time exploiting weaknesses or challenging her opponents, she just blew them apart.

that's only because she was written that way...she could just as easily have been writen as someone who got satisfaction from torturing her friends.

You don't think there are people like this in the real world?

of course it could have been written that way, but it wasn't. and thats what i'm saying- the Phoenix we got wouldn't allow for the kind of story people are asking for.

Nevermind Storm... The entire X-Men should've launched one last all or nothing strike against her! It was X Men 3! Not Wolverine And The X Men! Thats my big problem with these movies... Way, waaaaaaaay too much Logan!
Although it makes narrative sense to focus on one character, they shoud've changed that character every movie.

Actually, that is the way it was written in the comic book. If you read the Dark Phoenix Saga, you'll notice there is no mention of cosmic entities or otherworldly creatures inhabiting Jean Grey's body. Instead, Phoenix is Jean Grey without restraint--an uncontrolable dual personality, capable of anything. In that respect, The Last Stand gets it right. The comic book only introduces Phoenix as a cosmic entity years later to explain the resurrection of Jean Grey.

in the comic they never would have been able to tell a story if Jean could blink the X-Men out of existence. she didn't waste time exploiting weaknesses or challenging her opponents, she just blew them apart.

She could blink the X-Men out of existence, easily, in both the comic book and movie. The difference is, the comic book further explores Jean Grey's struggle with her dual personality and why she doesn't succumb to the madness and destroy everything she loves, whereas the movie glosses over it due to time constraints and other storylines that need tending.

In The Last Stand, Phoenix could obliterate Wolverine just as easily as she could Storm. Wolverine is simply the person through which they choose to showcase Jean Grey's humanity.

Agreed. If she could decimate Charles Xavier--whose telepathic powers obviously rivaled and surpassed hers--what love would she show for Storm...or anyone else?

Wolverine was allowed to exist because Jean wanted to play with him...like a cat does a mouse. She still flayed his ass though...just for **** and giggles. LOL
