The Court of Owls could potentially make for a classic sequel, because its a villain we've never seen before in a Batman movie and it changes how Batman views Gotham and its history. It feels very Empire Strikes Back in that it shakes up the protagonists worldview about what he thought he knew and raises the stakes.
