Didn't see a thread for this... if there is one, please merge it.

Caught this show last weekend on Cinemax. All I can say is DAMN, it's awesome. It's like James Bond, Die Hard and Black Hawk Down rolled into one. I found out after watching it that it's actually the second Strike Back series and the original British show had a mostly different cast.

Anyway, the premiere is better than most action/spy movies I've seen in a while, and I'm really looking forward to the next episode. One of the two lead actors, Philip Winchester, needs to play a superhero like, NOW. That dude is badass and he literally looks like he stepped out of a comic book. I'd say that he'd be a perfect Cyclops, but I doubt we'll be seeing Cyke again for a while. :(

So... I guess I'm the only one who watched this show? Damn. :(

You're right about this show I watched it this weekend and I was hooked. They showed the second episode on TV yesterday. The ending is pure badass
when he catches the bomb before it drops
I loved it. I am just wondering if this gets picked up for a second season how will they continue it. To me it seems to follow a 24/M:I format. But this show should have been promoted more. It is great.

This is the second season.

Awesome, can't wait to see it. I unfortunately don't get Cinemax (I was over at a friend's place when I saw the premiere) so I guess I'll have to look for the new one online.

Question cronosred, was the first season good?

While I do have Cinemax, they showed the second episode on another channel. The first two episodes play more like a 2hr premier then anything else. But it was great. Can't wait to see where this show goes. However I can't help but think if this show was on Stars or HBO it would be noticed more.

I'm going to give it a shot. I'm somewhat disappointed about what happened to John Porter.

I think the big conspiracy was a little "eye rolling." Big Illuminati organization doing bad stuff, whatever.

I think it is sort of funny they have a Brit playing a Yank and a Canuck or possibly a Yank playing a Brit.

I know!!! I was just watching a behind-the-scenes clip, and it kind of tripped me out.

And yeah, this is basically the UK's answer to 24, and the first season featured Andrew Lincoln, who's now on Walking Dead. Probably part of the reason for not starting it with season one. It is pretty misleading that they're advertising it as a "Cinemax Original Series".

Folks familiar with the "real" first season of the show seem really pissed about Cinemax version. I'm enjoying it so far, and I'm not mad at all at all the boobies they've infused the show with. More counter-terrorist dramas could use more boobies!

Finally got (almost) caught up on this show since some awesome person uploaded episodes 1-4 onto Project Free TV.

Anyway, all I can say is that I'm absolutely loving this show and it's definitely not predictable. I love that it plays more like a long movie than an episodic "bad guy of the week" TV show. Ian Cunningham was brilliant as a vicious IRA terrorist-turned-mercenary and I can't wait to see more of Jimi Mistry (Latif). I highly recommend a film called Exam that Mistry appeared in. Not many people have seen it, but it's really intense.

Okay, okay, you guys have me intrigued. I see it's up on the "alternative medium" by which I view most U.S. cable shows I can't get on regular TV here, so I will check it out.

Yeah, I love the show too.

I'm digging the comic book style approach of story arcs that I've noticed, by having a target for the story arc that goes on for two episodes. Michael and Damien are great characters, and the actors are genuinely charismatic and I think that comes across onscreen. They've got chemistry too, and make a good pair...which is cool.

Michael reminds me of Daniel Craig, and is just a ****ing beast. Damien is just a fun dude, I think. And I like the quirk they gave him, in which he seems to call everyone "buddy".

I think it's just a cool, fun action packed espionage/military/black ops show that...if your a fan of it like me, then you should enjoy it.

The show is not bad. The team ****s up way too much and doesn't really seem good at what they do. Stonebridge and Scott know there is a mole and aren't doing anything about it. Girls aren't bad looking though.

Watched the original 6 episodes of first series and the four of this new co-production series. And Im loving it :)

Yeah, Stonebridge and Scott make a great team and I like how they take turns saving the day and royally screwing things up.

Yeah. It's one of those things where, if you step back, you tell yourself "maybe these people aren't as good at they're jobs as they should be..." but it makes the thing entertaining.

I dunno, it's definitely scratching that espionage itch I have. It's interesting and fun. And, I had no idea this was the second season season. I'm going to try looking up the first.

And, for what it's worth Cinemax isn't the only one claiming the "original series" on a non-first season series. Starz is doing the same with Torchwood, which with the "Miracle Day" season is in it's fourth season (or series) I believe.

Loved Episode Four. [BLACKOUT]Grant poppin' Connelly in the brainpan for killing Marshall was awesome[/BLACKOUT]

Agreed. Love Grant.

These last two episodes were great. They've really been raking in some awesome guest stars: Mr. Ekko (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje), Jorah Mormont (Iain Glen) and the hot British babe from The L Word (Rachel Shelley). I hope Shelley becomes a regular. Her character makes a good love interest for Scott and it's an excuse to see her with her clothes off again. :woot:

Really enjoyed the conclusion of last night's story arc. It was kinda cool to see a Damien episode, where he saves Michael for once.

And I just read that Strike Back has been renewed for a second (or third, by some counts) season.

Yeah I loved the 1st series and im loving this series as well, im just slightly pissed off that they killed off John Porter in the 1st episode because he was the main guy in the 1st series..

Fing AMAZING Action Drama.

1) Good teamwork between the two leads.... check
2) Mostly action based, but well written...check
3) Sex with hot women...check
4) R rated language and violence...check
5) Good weekly episodes that tie into each other...check
6) One main villain......check
7) Total dude bonding ("I complete you now don't I?")...check. :)

Seriously. This show is pretty much 24 + Spartacus + MI5 and I love it as much as I do those three shows.

It's the kind of show that would never make it on network tv here in the States because of the sex, language and violence...but males 16-55 would eat this show up if it got more pub.

So looks like the show will be getting another season.

I mean I enjoyed it. It's not great, but it's fun.

So what did Stonebridge mean at the end? Is he going to leave Section 20 to settle down with his family? That's what he implied at the end. Or is he going to split up with his wife? Because his wife didn't want him to keep playing soldier after they have the baby.

I do like that at the end of the season, Stonebridge and Scott are now bros basically. They aren't really rivals or hate each other more. Now they are tight like Riggs and Murtaugh.

I also like that at the end Scott destroyed all proof and evidence of the conspiracy that probably would've exonerated him. I think while he probably didn't approve of what was done, he does to a degree understand the actions of the commander and also now he's really in a better place and works with people he now knows he can trust (rest of Section 20 were all above board and proved to have integrity).

I also like that everything was pretty much resolved and closed at the end. No huge cliffhangers like 24. So next season will be a new case/adventure. Made this season like an extended miniseries.

Network TV is becoming more obsolete than ever.

The UK Strike Back site is a lot nicer than the Cinemax site.

Good to hear the two guys will be back.

I hope they keep the formula that worked for this show the same and don't strive to change it up too much in season 3.

There are no other shows like this on TV right now (here in the states) and this one works well at what it does.
