Stupid People Doing Stupid Things Thread - Part 3

And it all started with the offensive cartoons. and the thing with THAT - these cartoonists don't single out Muslims. They make offensive cartoons about everyone. It's only when something about Islam is spurted that a problem incurs.yes, the cartoonists initiated this conflict but they don't discriminate who they decide to mock. why should Muslims get special treatment and not have offensive cartoons made about them?

Again, if say a hate group didn't just single out blacks but also went after Jews and Hispanics, should Blacks somehow feel placated that it's not just them? No-one's saying anything about special treatment, just realize that any one of these groups will feel fully justified in taking great issue with a targeted smite, and that's the risk you run when you do it...be it through humor/satire or what have you. If one feels that isn't fair, then it makes them worse than a jokester or satirist, it makes them a hypocrite. It's everyone's fault, or it's no-one's.

The issues lies on both ends. People need to stop being so crazy about what can and cannot be portrayed/satirized in a decent manner and on the other end people need to learn that just because your religion is what you like doesn't mean that you can flagrantly abuse/completely disrespect other peoples while demanding that every part of yours be kept above reproach.

As long as the conversation remains civil, it's good to talk these things through....even if you think someone is wrong. The great thing about our culture is...we CAN. Jus gotta' know the tightrope you walk when dealing with those who can't, t'know?

Yeah I saw, and I'm glad you did that too btw. I responded to your edited post.

In all seriousness...when you say 'I get how they felt'...I get how you feel in saying that. I just think there is a larger umbrella of responsibility that you should be considering and giving more equal weight to. Ultimately it's good that unlike those we're discussing, we can talk these things through...don't you think?

alright. it took a little while for me to get it and even though I don't agree with you on everything, I get what you're saying and I agree with you here.

this. you said it much better than how I was trying to say it.

yes. I'm all for continuing discussions as long as there is a mutual respect. That's going to be a thing everywhere here on the hype for me because you'll always stumble into people who disagree with you on things. the difference is that some people will just go and insult you in the discussions.

yeah, exactly. people need to be willing to talk things through, discuss things, they need to be willing to learn more facts, more about the truth, instead of and before conforming to their beliefs.

"A Muslim-American Woman Claims United Airlines Racially Profiled Her on a Recent Flight"

tahera-ahmad.jpg

A Muslim chaplain from Northwestern University said a United Airlines flight attendant made derogatory comments to her after she requested an unopened can of Diet Coke on a flight from Chicago to Washington D.C.

Tahera Ahmad, an associate chaplain and director of interfaith engagement, relayed the alleged incident on Facebook while she was on the flight Friday night. She told her followers she was in tears following the exchange, which she said prompted a passenger to swear at her and also make anti-Muslim remarks.

Earlier, Ahmad said the flight attendant had given her an opened can of Diet Coke. When Ahmad requested an unopened can, the flight attendant told her, “Well, I’m sorry. I just can’t give you an unopened can, so no Diet Coke for you.”The same flight attendant then proceeded to give another passenger an unopened can of beer, Ahmad said.

Ahmad said she again asked the flight attendant why the man was able to receive an unopened beverage but she couldn’t.

The flight attendant, according to Ahmad, replied, “We are unauthorized to give unopened cans to people, because they may use it as a weapon on the plane.”When Ahmad proceeded to tell the flight attendant she felt she was being discriminated against, the flight attendant quickly grabbed the man’s can, opened it and said, “It’s so you don’t use it as a weapon,” Ahmad said.

Stunned, Ahmad asked other passengers if they had seen what had transpired, prompting a man sitting in an aisle across from her to exclaim, “You Muslim, you need to shut the f— up,” Ahmad said.

“What?” a shocked Ahmad replied.

Then, Ahmad said, that passenger leaned over from his seat, looked her straight in the eyes and said, “Yes you know you would use it as a weapon, so shut the f— up.”

Ahmad said the flight attendant later apologized.

“The flight attendant also acknowledged that the man who yelled at me was wrong for doing so and apologized that her behavior led to that. She acknowledged it was unethical and said he never should have said anything,” she said.

Ahmad said the pilot also apologized and walked her to the service desk once the flight landed at Reagan National Airport, so she could file a formal complaint.

And people wonder why America has such a terrible ****ing reputation in the world. "You look different from me so you can't have a can of pop because you might use it as a weapon on a plane full of people." One woman with one can against probably 100 people and armed air marshals.

Dumbass *******s.

When I was in high school I used a can of soda to beat the ever loving **** out of a bully who dumped a drink on my head at lunch. Only time I ever did anything like that. Ended up crushing the can flat on his face by the time I was done. So I can attest to the dangerous qualities of a can of soda opened or closed.

I feel bad for this woman tho. Heart goes out to all Muslims and religious minorities who have to put up with this bigotry. I might have gotten my ass kicked but I'd have stood up for her if I'd been there. Can't stand behavior like that.

One Million Moms want Lucifer canceled because it glorifies Satan.

Conservative Christians are throwing a fit over a work of fiction because it portrays Satan as a likable character.

Remember the right-wing group One Million Moms? You know, the group affiliated with the hate group American Family Association that only has 71,000 likes on Facebook and a paltry 2,900 followers on Twitter? The group that constantly starts doomed to fail petitions demanding they get their way?

Well, 71,000 One Million Moms is at it again. This time, they are whining about an upcoming Fox series based on DC characters created by Neil Gaiman titled Lucifer, starring Tom Ellis as Satan himself.

But One Million Moms, or 71,000 Moms if you want to be accurate, want Fox to cancel the show because Lucifer isn’t evil enough and the show will somehow “glorify Satan.”

Naturally, Gaiman couldn’t resist responding to the conservative group to remind them of their past failures.

"Ah. It seems like only yesterday (but it was 1991) that the “Concerned Mothers of America” announced that they were boycotting Sandman because it contained Lesbian, Gay, Bi and Trans characters. It was Wanda that upset them most: the idea of a Trans Woman in a comic book… They told us they were organizing a boycott of Sandman, which they would only stop if we wrote to the American Family Association and promised to reform. I wonder if they noticed it didn’t work last time, either…"

Of course, if One Million Moms had read the premise more thoroughly, they might see this show differently.

In short, it appears this story about Lucifer is a struggle between good and evil and which one he will choose. In the story, Satan is traveling on a path towards redemption. One would think that would be a story all Christians would find intriguing. If Satan can redeem himself, then there is hope for anyone. If anything, conservative Christians should be more pissed about God sending an angel to convince Lucifer to go back to being evil. One would think God would welcome Lucifer’s walk on the side of good.

Plus, it’s not like Lucifer has never been a good guy before. In the Bible itself, Lucifer is an angel who was close to God before falling from grace and becoming the ruler of Hell. The new Fox series merely portrays Satan turning over a new leaf and perhaps finding his way back. Isn’t that what Christianity is all about? That one can find their way back no matter how far they have fallen?

I wasn't going to watch it but I just might now that these idiots are protesting it.

I also posted this in the Lucifer section but thought because it was OMM again being morons it fit here pretty well.

Haha those people are idiots. I still won't watch that garbage though. I am gonna pissed if that gets a second season and Constantine stays off the air though

Constantine stayed true to the premise (except for the in America forever bit) and got canceled while even if it's garbage Fox will keep it on. Of course if it's amazing then it'll be canceled by the end of season two at the latest to kake room for another episode of the simpsons.

Not a funny enough pun to be worth the inevitable backlash she'll receive.

"grandmother kills kitten with a hammer to punish grandkids"

GODFREY, Ill. — A woman in Illinois faces animal cruelty charges after admitting to killing a cat and four kittens because her grandchildren would not clean their rooms, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office told KTVI.

A deputy was called to a home in the 5000 block of W. Victor Drive just after 7 p.m. Monday in reference to a report of animal cruelty.

The deputy spoke with a teenager, who said she found her dead cat in the family freezer.

The deputy asked the child what happened to the cat, at which point the child’s grandmother, 71-year-old Josephine Bell, said she killed the cat and four kittens.

Bell said she had told her grandchildren that if they did not clean their rooms they would lose all their animals.

She told the deputy she didn’t feel like she should have to take care of the cat and kittens, so she killed them all with a hammer.

Bell said the kittens had been thrown away and the deputy could not locate them, Dixon said.

An officer with Godfrey Animal Control was summoned and retrieved the dead cat.

Meanwhile, Bell was arrested and charged with a felony count of aggravated cruelty to animals.

She remains in custody at Madison County Jail on $15,000 bond.

One Million Moms is maybe 10,000? I can't remember the exact number but I did post about them a few years back about an expose revealing just how much of a front this group is for some other group with equally ridiculous beliefs.

They are a tiny group with a big mouth in other words.

Well, that just ruined my day.
I know what you mean. I've been fostering a trio of kittens for nearly 3 weeks now (they were only two weeks old at the time) and only because the no-kill shelter is full right now and the only other option is a shelter that does kill.

What she did was doubly cruel and inhumane.
