This is to discuss the current mini series of Sub Mariner along with anything related to one of Marvel Comics oldest super heros and the first Mutant. I liked how he has been one of the best super heros but also oneof the most unpredictable threats which always provides for a lot of story potential.

So far the mini has been excellent. Briones has really stepped up his game, and I like the "Namor against the MU" aspect of the story. Maybe on ongoing isn't out of the question...

Yeah, I've been enjoying the mini-series more than I thought I would.

Why do you always speak in vague and general terms?

Briones draws some very impressive underwater scenery. I can't believe he's the same guy who stumbled through White Tiger.

Didn't White Tiger suck as a whole? Maybe he just needed better material for inspiration.

Maybe he's a vague and general human being, with Odo-like half-formed features.

I just figured he was that guy who likes GL. You know, the guy the sales and statistics tell us must exist, but who never seems to come around the Hype? Well, one found his way here.

I read issue 2 and this is what I really enjoyed.Don't read the spoiler below if you have not read issue 2.

Sub Mariner in the water charging at Ironman not being slowed down by the shots from his weapon and what looks like a tackle in the water. Then Sub Mariner showing off his strength by getting one enemy Sub Marine and pushing towards another Ironman has to get between both to prevent the Sub ramming into the other. Ironman getting chewed out and wondering why he took this job. I am hoping that his further doubts will be enough to convince that this job isn't for him and he only took for more money not because of something he actually enjoys like his other jobs as an inventor and industrialist. I still haven't read issue 1 that is why I am calling these people unknowns anyways the big african american saying that they should destroy Sub Mariner while the one with black long hair says he is looking foward coming face to face with the Atlantean traitor, and will be the first one to spit on his grave. I am looking foward to this match and believe Namor will have his hands full. Namor taking on humans saying his bullets are useless yet they still shoot at him having to find out the hard way they were wrong in thinking their bullets could harm him and attacks them. Venom in the background I am hoping they face off in a future issue that should be if it happens it should be a sweet very amazing exiting battle. Then the end showing him in front of the X Mansion with Wolverine I am looking foward to see what happens between him and Wolvie in the next issue.

Dude, #2 came out like three weeks ago, didn't it?

Anyway, it seems as if Iron Man is solidly consigned to being just shy of the really top-tier powerhouses now. I thought Bendis was building him up to finally break the class 100 barrier and be a full-on powerhouse on the level of Namor, Thor, Hercules, et al., but now Namor and the Hulk have taken his blows and barely been slowed down, and it looks like he'll fare even worse against Thor in Thor #3.

Hey Darthphere being a think you know it all crude ahole. I have read some Sub Mariner comics from his 1968 series, also issue 2 of his current mini series. I do read comics keep your negative comments out of this thread. I also doubt that there is a time when you aren't negative complaining about Hal Jordan.
There are plenty of times when he's not complaining about Hal specifically, but vastly fewer times when he's not being negative in some other way.

Nah, I just doubt he even reads the comics he talks about. Look at every post in the GL thread.

When is #3 coming out, also is it basically confirmed that Namor is dead?

I doubt that he is dead. Also I am going to say that he faces off with Venom and pummels him in the fight. I checked www.diamondcomics.com and for the next two weeks it's not listed as shipping. I think it might be three or four weeks from now would be my guess.

Also there is this new Marvel Masterworks Golden Age Sub Mariner volume 2 coming out recollecting issues 5-8 of Sub Mariner. Here is the cover picture of what it will look like.

So has anyone besides me gotten this promo poster of Sub Mariner?

My local comic store has it and I want to pick it up! Also I have a question is Namor asian or have asian ancestors? Look at the masterworks cover...

The Sub-Mariner mini is a lot better than I was expecting. I'm wishing that it was an ongoing.

I looked in his bio and it didn't say what race has he is. So if he were to get his own series I would hope that they would bring back Sea Leopard as a reoccuring super villain. He has only made two appearnces in Sub Mariner comics Namor 52 and Namor 53. He defeated Andromida and Attuma Sub Mariner's archnemesis who right now is dead.

Also here is the intro to Sub Mariner cartoon from the 1966 Marvel Super Heros animated series.

I started getting a headache reading this post. :( But laughing ever time I read "negative complaining" made it go away.:) Seems I missed issue #2, I'll have to check my store again to see if it even exists there. :csad:

So what? Spoiler tag it, *****.

Either way, He seems to do OKAY against Thor so far, he isn't all shattered. And it becomes inconsistent. Apparently an armor powered by Tony's subconcious can smack around Namor, but a more advanced armor with Tony's full attention, and a weapon meant for him can't. Probably bad writing in the first part. And who knows where he'll end up in power?

The answer is no.

This is the first time I've ever read Namor. I'm very happy with it, he has a new fan.

I should bring up that when Sub Mariner faced Thor he actually managed to held his own up until he was in the water Thor got his hammer back and threw Sub Mariner way across the ocean which would be considered a victory for Thor.
