Obviously it's still going to make a lot of money but why take the risk? They could move the flick to August 12 without coming in competition with themselves.

It's not like it's gonna leave the theater the next day. Why are we so obsessed with opening day numbers?

Because comicbook fans assess movies' quality by comparing strings of numbers and drawing tenuous conclusions.

I was watching the Deadpool red-band trailer and had a thought. I'd really like to see this movie be Rated-R:

-It's a David Ayer film, and his work tends to be more "adult."
-Kingsman already proved (this year) that Rated-R CBN's can be successful both critically and financially.
-If any of the WB/DC films would be Rated-R, this one makes the most sense to be given the premise/characters.
    -It'd be something different.

it would have been R....but then the trailer destroyed its youtube projections, this film financially has the potential of making a billion or close (yep i said it) because of the joker, harley, batman etc. and i doubt WB would settle with something this potentially big with an overall box office of just $500m-$600m because of exclusivefying the audience to just the R rated viewers

Would parents take their kids to see a movie called "Sucide Squad?" I mean some probably would, but I'd imagine that quite a few would balk at the title alone.

If the film is written well enough, a pg-13 rating shouldn't matter. Does it really need to be R to get the story across?

Ya'll just want that Margot Robbie nudie scene :sly:

There is no way WB would let the third movie in their ever expanding universe be r-rated and alienate a huge amount of potential viewers. Early on these movies are all about connective tissue, making one big story. Deadpool and Kingsmen are both stand alone.

If Batman wasn't in this I think it could have been R rated. Once Batman got added though that went out the window in my opinion.

If the rumour I have just invented that Batman is really Chevy Chase is true, is our Chevy Chase really Batman?

what if batman is a fantasy schizo alter ego of bruce wayne, and bruce wayne really is the one in arkham, and has been lobotomised, and everything is just but a dream in the mind of bruce wayne.

if i'd open up a new thread to try and bring life into something that never is going to happen, would it then become a rumour if i said that it's a rumour when it really isn't a rumour and nobody takes it serious?

dude, it was just a question, i don't refresh these boards daily, i'm not trying to restart anything, simple question, if this fan rumour is true, then would that be the new origins of the joker, or would he be copying the joker.

Still, don't answer, just throw another insult my way.

If Batman wasn't in this, and it didn't lead directly into future stories, and it wasn't a tentpole Comic Book movie from DC then maybe it could have been R-rated. There was never a chance this would be r-rated unless it was seperate from the DCCU

What's the harm in DC having one property that is R rated?

I think WB will want as much bank as they can possibly make. I'll be very surprised if they let any DC film get an R in theaters. Id say an unrated or maybe R rated home release is more likely.

The movies called Suicide Squad its not for the kiddies but I'm sure they'll see it anyway even if its rated R because Batman is in it.
Has David Ayer ever done a pg 13 movie? I guess this will be the first one he's done

if you're 13+ then i doubt you're scared of the term 'suicide' and have enough common sense to know that villains kill and get killed :sly:

As a director? No. As a writer he wrote the first Fast and Furious, SWAT which were PG-13.

    Agreed with these two.

I'm surprised there haven't been picket signs and whatnot already.
