Suicide Squad: General Discussion and Speculation - - - Part 12

It's about the parents, not the kids. And never overestimate the amount of people with common sense.

 

Parents were fine taking their kids to TDK or if they didn't the movie performed just fine.

The amount of people worried about the title are probably the same who were uncomfortable with Harry Potter being about sorcery.

 

Just saying it will raise some eyebrows. It won't be a significant dent in box office receipts

 

I'm not sure how much of a deterrent the word "suicide" will prove to be. Obviously, it doesn't really conjour up family-friendly connotations, but I don't think it is quite the red flag that something like "rape" or "torture" in the title would be. The word "suicide" is, after all, thrown around quite loosely in the vernacular, where it is used to describe pretty much anything that is moderately risky.

 

My little boy's 8 and he's already asked to go see BvS and SS... he doesn't know, or care, what suicide means... he just wants to see Batman, the Joker, Killer Croc etc... oh and he wants Lego toys of them all too!

 

They could always just release an R-rated or unrated version of the film when it comes out on Blu-ray/DVD. Everybody wins.

 

I think the suicide squad title definitely hurts the kids going to go see the movie. That's partly why the movie is going to be marketed towards adults
Even the Lego Batman series had to shorten the title of the group to just "The Squad" when they got introduced in Lego Batman 3
Same thing with the Justice League cartoon series they got called Task Force X there

Its kinda hard to ignore the implications that this is one of DC's more mature IPs unless you just change the name but then it sounds so less iconic because of the long history the title has

 

Think we'll get a teaser with Man From UNCLE this week? I highly doubt it since we got the leaked trailer but who knows?

 

It's a long way off and the Con trailer has HUGE views on the internet. There's really no need for a trailer in theaters right now.

Admiral Burns and General Philips? I mean why not have legit DC characters as to expand the universe? Genera Lane in this would've been so much better than General Philips. it connects Suicide Squad more to MOS/BvS and the entire cinematic universe.

Doubtful...Ayer served in the Navy and was a submariner during his time in.
