Drop some easter eggs, references and a few clever dialogue and I think you can manage to buy the audience into it. Like he says something off-hand about encountering Batman more than the squad themselves.

Perhaps he can be the one who tries to talk to each one of them, one by one nonchalantly, after each major shootout while Deadshot and Rick Flagg measure di**s. He could be the one that each member ends up really liking because he understands them quite a bit.

And then BOOM. Nightwing reveal and Batman drops down from his Batjet- like some deus ex machina-WW-type awesomeness

Yeah, this. Now when I think about it, it's possible that's how she ends up in Belle Reve. I also believe that shot of Deadshot on the top of the building in broad daylight is that last hit he was going to do which went south and he got arrested. I assume we'll see how some of those got into the prison.
