I feel your pain man. I have one pro-Marvel friend who wanted this movie to fail SO hard and I was hoping I'd be able to laugh in her face. Not looking like that's going to happen now.

(To clarify, I like Marvel a lot. it just annoys me when fans of either side are actively rooting for the other one to fail. These aren't sports teams or political opponents.)

I love them both to death, but it'd be nice to stop having the other team continuously saying "HA! Look at your RT scores and look at ours."

The way I see it, WB has to go the Transformers/Bay route and just be unabashed in making these films. That means stop trying to pander to the critics, stop the studio interference, just cut them out and focus on making a movie.

Works out for me anyway since I love every DCEU film thus far and will probably love SS as well. I also happen to really enjoy the Transformers franchise. They provide such a welcome form of escapism into huge explosions and slow mo action sequences.

As someone who grew up with a lot of these characters I know how you feel. I feel almost obligated to watch this but I'm also having second thoughts about forking over coin for a series that isn't delivering the results I believe these characters deserve.

Boo man! Boo! You should make up your own mind!

There is a lot of haphazard jumping around. I particularly call out the introduction of the squad being like a series of mini-trailers or Anime Music Videos you'd see on YouTube (there's a scene in particular in the film later on that frustrates me with its music usage) that feels both rushed and overly long at the same time.

Do tell. Is it the one over Harley and Joker in the vat I've heard some complaints about?

Faraci said it was to make the film funnier, but that was denied by Ayer and co.

I remember hearing that denial, that's why I was wondering if they ever said why they really did it.

According to Ayer, the studio loved it so much, they gave him more money to do more of he wanted. That seems to have worked for them. :o

But I believe I remember that [BLACKOUT]the Justice League member cameo[/BLACKOUT] was part of it.

[BLACKOUT]JL member, as in someone other than Batman?[/BLACKOUT]

There was an article that said the Flash cameo was added weeks before the movie's release and we have known about the cameo since early June so I guess it was added in the reshoots.

[BLACKOUT]Yep, Flash apprehending Boomerang, as glimpsed in a TV spot or trailer somewhere. Considering his costume was probably made for JL for April and not Suicide Squad's filming last year, that was likely part of the reshoots.[/BLACKOUT]

But then what would you do with nothing to complain about? :oldrazz:

Cool, can't wait to hear your thoughts next year :o

Seriously this will never hit Netflix and will be on HBO probably next Spring/Summer

I guess I will see it on HBO then.

This post just broke my heart because I know exactly how you feel.

Yeah, it is depressing. :csad: I really want to love seeing these characters on screen. But if I'm going to hate every movie they release, what's the point of investing any more time and/or money in the franchise?

So I just have to hope that end up disagreeing with the critics on Suicide Squad. It doesn't have to be amazing or anything. Just good enough to convince me that the DCEU has value and continuing with it isn't just a waste of my time.

At least after BvS, I still had hope that things would be better for the films Snyder didn't direct. No such argument if SS sucks too.

I still have hope for WW. I can feel it. It's gonna be decent.

Sorry The Joker. I know we were hoping that Leto's performance would overshadow the horrible visuals but (Just based on what I'm hearing and reading) it does not look like that's the case. Hope the reviews are wrong but .........

Not long after the reshoot rumor started Jai Courtney was asked about it and he said they aren't really adding more comedy but more action. So far the only confirmed added reshoot scene is the scene [BLACKOUT]where Flash captures Boomerang during a bank robbery.[/BLACKOUT]

Well, I guess we can stop blaming Goyer now. He was probably the only reason MoS was mildly coherent.

Interesting to hear about how messy the movie supposedly is, but it isn't surprising. The complete tonal shift between the original comic con trailer and the marketing pre-release was pretty jarring.

Sorry nope. You are barred from having an assessment on Letoker's performance because he is only on screen for ten minutes and isn't the major, major villain.

Unless it's positive.

So is the D.C.E.U. slowly starting to stand for this for some fans already?

How would you guys feel if WB turned over the DC films to Bad Robot? Let Abrams run things as a producer.

I think they went with the standard "making it better" story and how reshoots are a common thing for these types of the films.

He's probably the most vapid big name filmmaker since Spielberg, but yeah he at least knows how to put out something palatable for the masses.

The guy from Rollingstone actually called Ayer a "limp dick" in the review?

:funny: unbelievable

What's wrong with that? Isn't the idea of David Ayer's "willingness to go all limp-dick and compromise his hardcore action bona fides" (when making a PG-13 studio comic book movie) a truly important thing to include when reviewing the film itself? :o

Spoiler alert: The correct answer is "no".
