Just got out. I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought it would.

But oh my god Leto was so bad. Really wish he wasn't even in the movie at this point. I really wanted to like him.

So are the critics wrong :sly:

Whats your rating of it?

How would you rank it among DCEU films?

Just wait until Justice League.

He's the leader we deserve, but not the one we need right now.

But what about that brilliant performance by Common? :o

But Deadline was wrong because they only factored in B.O.

What about Dr. Pepper, Doritos, Dodge, Jeep, money? Where do you think that money goes to? What about merchandise, posters, soundtracks, ect? Where does that money go?

DC is a giant. The films may not be critically acclaimed... but with all I just posted being taken into account do you seriously think 850 mil was all BvS raked in?

Puhleeze. Now that's what I call denial.
What do you mean they were wrong? They said to break even with B.O. it needed to make somewhere around $930m. If not, they would break even after with home media and such.

Where does that money go? Into advertising. That is the point of the partnerships. That is what you saw with MoS as well. They basically paid off the marketing with that.

BvS cost a lot. It is apparently more expensive then TASM2 and PotC4, which cost $400m. One reason movies run up big filming bills is because if they are a mess behind the scenes, they do run into issues that they need to throw money at. Rogue One is having this problem right now. And thus it will probably end up costing more then TFA.

Reading the stuff on SS the last few days, whether the movie is good or not. What they did was throw money at it to fix it. Now it may have worked, but that still means they spent that money.

I put this right behind MOS and way in front of BVS

despite the many problems I had, I at least walked out having had some fun

What a dilemma.. I f***ing loved it.

After BvS disappointed me, and then seeing the RT score and the usual suspects on SHH going to town on it before seeing it I got that same sick feeling in the pit of my stomach that I wasted well over a year of hype for nothing.

8/10 for me.

I don't know if there are 2 cuts floating around but people who are talking about Leto having REALLY minimal screen time are either exaggerating his absence or didn't watch the same cut as what I saw. It's correct to say he plays a smaller role, but he's dotted throughout the movie, (more so the first and third acts) which suit the story perfectly fine. He's there to mostly service Harley's backstory and we get plenty of that. Every time he popped up on the screen I was telling myself "well this must be the last time we see him" and then he'd show up again.

I took my girlfriend to see it, who I had previously dragged along to see MoS and BvS and who didn't really enjoy either of them absolutely raved about SS. She loved Joker and Harley as expected and even asked if they would ever do a "Joker and Harley" stand alone movie because thats all she wants now. Once I told her one major issue or complaint I had heard up until now was that the Joker gets very minimal screen time, she reacted the same as I did above.

Also... maybe being Aussie helped but Boomerang got a LOT of laughs out of the crowd over here. It was mostly his delivery that you thank god they got an actual Australian to pull off.

Leto's performance is too hammy (in a bad way) and surface level.

Right behind MoS??

What in tarnation is going on in here??? People are actually liking this movie

So strange hearing people aren't liking Leto's Joker. I naively assumed that character was impossible to screw up.

One of my favorite follows, but I'm sad for him that Leto wasn't in the movie more. I think he even got a tat of him.

#SuicideSquad was overall a fun movie. I loved Harley and Deadshot. The editing needed some work. I will get into it in my review.

Joker needed more time like wtf I don't wanna spoil anything but Joker and Batman has small cameos. Joker should of been the main villain

Apparently DC movies need huge box office numbers to break even. I never hear the same about Marvel films oddly enough. Wonder Woman has around the same budget as Captain America and Thor yet I'm willing to bet we'll get these insane BO numbers "in order for it to break even" that we didn't get with the Marvel films. Weird...

Many of the MCU films have reported budgets much smaller than their DC counterparts. Cap, Thor and Ant Man were reported to be $140M, $150M and $130M, respectively. The break even points for those were quite a bit lower than films that are $200M or more due to extensive reshoots or lengthy production schedules.

If WW garners strong reviews and gets folks excited for JL that's far more important than making a big profit on the BO run.

The positive reviews of him see him as a modern day Cesar Romero Joker.

Just thinking about that combination (Cesar was great..but think about that Joker in this age of style, dress and attitude..) and I can see how some don't like it.

All these responses from you guys, ooooooh man! hope is not dead!

Just got back from an early screening.

Here are my thoughts:

I don't know what film the critics saw but it obviously wasn't Suicide Squad because holy crap it was FANTASTIC!!!

that doesn't mean that it was a perfect film, it's a box office popcorn superhero flick, it's not made to win oscars it's made to give the audience a good time. And boy did it!

If I had to make any critiques they would be this:

Headshot's daughter wasn't a good actress. I rolled my eyes overtime she was on screen which was not much at all.

Katana was cool but she barely said two words, a character you didn't really need to much

Enchantress's motivations were pretty murky but I will say this. That is a common thread of just about ALL superhero films so if the critics want to criticize that then they are being hypocrites of just about every DC and Marvel film ever.

The only complaint I heard from anyone in the audience was one girl beside me who complained that she only came there for Leto and he was barely in it. She wanted a 30 Seconds to Mars song too. Don't know what she was thinking, anyone who did a tiny bit of research knew this wasn't a Joker film.

There were cheers at the end. Lots of laughs, lots of clapping at the big moments, applause when the film ended. Everyone was smiling and talking about how great it was.

And one guy dressed up as the Joker, green hair and tux. And because I was dressed up as Harley, I ran up to him at the end and shouted "Pudding!" Good times.

I predict audiences will be giving this film a MASSIVE thumbs up and the Critics are going to have to put up and shut up. They have been wrong far too many times this year it's ridiculous.

I just saw the movie as well and I totally agree with your review. The movie was not bad at all. Sure there were pacing and story issues, but its characters have LOTS AND LOTS OF POTENTIAL!!!!! All of the characters are interesting and acted well!!!! Especially DEADSHOT! I don't care what the critics say. This movie deserved 52% for the lowest, not 29%! That is crazy!!!!

Squad might've been number one if Leto wasn't in this movie

wow..

I don't know how to feel about that since Joker was initially my main reason to see the film. However, that points to just how good other stuff are in the movie.

Rate the movie without Leto and rate the movie with Leto: The Joker edition :sly:

I have to disagree with all the Leto hate. Maybe it was collective excitement (my friend and girlfriend next to me really liked him) but each time he'd come on screen I was hooked.

the joker thing is individually based at this point. my friend wanted to know when the joker&harley movie was coming out because she loved him and them so much.

So I guess I'm going to be one of those people who liked Suicide Squad. Those are my initial feelings anyway. Maybe I'll change my mind in the future.

I was expecting to hate it honestly.

This makes me very happy. I figured youd line up with critics on this one.
