Now that reshoots are under way I think its safe to assume that Faraci was right. The movie was more closer in tone with the Comic Con trailer and now the reshoots are a response to how well the fun official trailer was.

Lets even assume the reshoots go GREAT. Ayer beautiful combines the fun and action.

Would you rather have the Comic Con trailer tone which is more brooding, dark humor and twisted.

Or would you rather have the official trailer which is more fun, magnetic and action oriented.

Here is a video that has both trailers for those who might have seen them in a while.

As it stands if the movie is indeed like the comic con trailer it would be impossible to wholesale change the movie to make it fit like the firs official trailer.
Not in 3 weeks

I doubt it's tone related. They have 1/3 of the film with one tone, and the rest is darker? They can't reshoot the whole film. The only thing I can understand - too violent or intense in some scenes, they needed to re-shoot them to get the right rating. And it's impossible to trim from the film. It's way more believable that tone issues.

The first 'dark' trailer gives me chills. I'm a sucker for dark, brooding movies and tone.
I loved James O Barr's original Crow comic and The Cure's best album is still Pornography.
If I want lighthearted fun, I'll watch a comedy.

My guess is that the reshootes are Batman related, they want to make sure he doesn't kill this time.

It's not related to Batman either, I think. Re-shoots were planned before BvS film came out and sparked this controversy.

I enjoyed the second one more. So something closer to that would be my preference.

I enjoyed the first one more. I love my comic book films DARK.

When I saw the Comic Con trailer I got vibes of Batman Returns. Which had brooding and dark humor in it as well.

I heard it many times about SS. For some reason Batman Returns gets mentioned a lot. Can't complain, since it's one of my favorite CBM ever.

The comic-con trailer isn't even that dark. What I think people are mistaking for dark are the character beats. Harley's song reflecting on how she became who she is. Floyd with his daughter. Flag with Moon. Joker being Joker. These kind of moments are essential if I'm to enjoy the characters and get invested in them stopping Joker and/or Enchantress/Incubus.

Ideally, we'd get a nice mix of both. The character beats and honesty from the first with the shennanigans from the second.

Unless we know which elements WB wanted to change it's hard to say but overall I think this movie needs humour so the Queen trailer for me. Ideally it's more fun + R-rating for me.

A tone fitting the first trailer for me.

I found the Queen soundtrack a bit jarring and dated. Frenetic action and quips work best in small workable dosages if needed at all.

I understand the need to play it safe with lots of money on the line though. It just makes me wonder whenever a superhero movie comes out how many different versions there are or if there's a better version unreleased.

With effects having improved, I think smaller mid-range budget perhaps is best to get a hit without totally playing it safe. Oh well.

I preferred the first trailer by a wide margin... I don't like BvS's darkness at all, but this is a story about villains. For that, I'm all on board.

I think and hope the movie itself will fall right in between the two trailers, tonally.

I really don't mind... Stick with the tone the director wanted from the start and hopefully we just get a darn good movie.

^ This

Stick to your beliefs and vision. Alway. F' the Internet crowd.

I liked the comic con trailer but its pretty obvious to me Ayer is known for his serious and grim movies
Not sure how he could work a comedy in other than in his own style like End of Watch vs Fury
Both are Rated R as well which is not what Suicide Squad will be

The one with the Bohemian Rhapsody basically sold the movie for me. I was very skeptic before.

That doesn't mean that I want the whole movie to be as humorous and goofy as that trailer seems to imply. Some balance would be nice.
I really hope WB doesn't screw it up, if the rumours are true, which I'm still not sure they are.

Jai Courtney said that they're mainly doing the reshoots to add more action.

The second trailer was pretty dark in itself though. It descended into a sort of chaotic madness that was pretty fun but even then there weren't a huge number of jokes. Mostly it was just Quinn and Boomerang being crazy that got laughs.

^ You're right I guess. It's probably the song that makes it feel like it does.
I tried playing Requiem for Soprano over the muted trailer, and it's definitely not as fun. It was kind of scary, actually. :o

Well... is that a good thing or a bad thing? XD
Without seeing the damn movie itself, we have no way to tell in which aspects it's lacking, if any at all.

Comic Con trailer. Villains that have killed people & been trying to kill superheros like Batman, the Flash, should not be very likeable.
