Should crack a billion easily especially with the 3D bump.

I wonder who's opting to see this in 3D
the WB conversion mixed with the all night trailers screams 2D to me personally.

believe it or not the 2d screens were sold out near me and IMAX(my first choice) sold out weeks ago, I had to settle for a 3D showing at a halfway decent theater. But atleast I got my special edition potter-style glasses already.

Deadline.com says that Horrible Bosses has a budget of $25 million while the Zookeeper has a budget of $80 million.

Well, Horrible Bosses probably had somewhat low paydays for the actors and not much in the way of special effects. Zookeeper had all those animals talking which would get the costs moving pretty high fast. I had no interest in seeing Zookeeper though. Horrible Bosses is awesome though.

F*** GL....WB and DC ****ed that up royal....they deserve whatever happens

Totally agree, I love the Green Lantern comics and wanted the movie to succeed, but the movie just sucked. They just needed to let Geoff Johns write the script and use that, instead the Geoff Johns script obviously accidently made it over to the CW where it got completely f'ed up.

I hope the 3D doesn't hurt your viewing.

maybe Johns and DC will stop forcing GL down my throat now.

I woulda said that before watching Transformers in 3d. Shoot a film in 3D and its awesome. That other **** is dumb.

I hate 3D and the cash grabbing going on around it but I will admit the action in transformers 3 was awesome in 3D. My big thing stores like bestbuy try to push 3D tv's on you like its a new technology. I could not sit in my house every night and where those glasses for 2 hours without having sever eye issues.

No one really is considering the damage Cap may end up imposing on Potter's gross, especially domestically.

the last potter did about 50mill in it's second weekend, and unless cap is trying to claim GL's dud status I think it will open higher than 50mill. Then again, this is the last potter and it's actually a summer release...

oh so curious.

i think Sherlock,Alvin and Avatar showed that movies can be realesed together and make money.

avatar was a typical cameron slow burn in the first quarter.
2 percent drop in it's second week, followed by a 9 percent drop in it's third, gotta love that guy.

but yea, I suppose sherlock did do fairly well for himself during the reign.

It just seems like a different circumstance this time around.

It's going to be close. Potter will have 50-60 it's second weekend and Cap isn't going to do numbers like 75 opening weekend. I think it's going to be very close.

Harry Potter is gonna be huge. Casual viewers will see it once, but the massive Potter fans will probably see it a number of times.

if Cap is good it can make a lot of money in its second week. if its bad then it doesnt deserve making money. i dont belive in this '' lets fix it with the sequel BS''. no more. if its bad its over for me.

but caps second week will be hurt by cowboys and aliens. good or not, its got the toughest spot of the entire summer.

paramount had to get both their comic book films out this summer, as if there wasn't enough already.

I think there is going to be a gross underestimation of just how big the Potter finale is going to be. CA is just another superhero movie, Potter 7pt2 is the end of an era.

I think part 2 will easily break all of the franchises box office records

I don't know about all of them but I am anticipating it may be the quickest film ever to reach a $1 billion.

not if cap is the next iron man movie.
I'm no cap fan(yet), but this is the kinda thing I'm referring to. Fastest film to 1bill is hard enough as it is, but to do with whilst competing with solid weekly, non counter programed competition just seems like an oversight.

Harry Potter is Twilight for the......I don't know how to finish that sentence.

Batman is Twilight for the...
in other threads people keep going on about bodily fluids and worse in reaction to the new photoshop image.

Deathly Hallows is currently tracking at 145-150 opening weekend.

Anybody think it may beat out TDK's 158.4???

If Cap is a good movie, I think it will make its money, even though it debuts on Potter's 2nd week. However, I think TF3 and Potter (and Pirates 4) will be the top 3 movies of the year, so any movie coming behind them will suffer a bit.

yea i think its entirely possible, this is the first fully wide 3d harry potter release. like it or not, that bump will help it edge out dark knight. i also this is the first time i've seen sold out shows this far in advance since TDK.
