In STM, after his initial public act of heroism, STM went into a montage of Superman flying about doing what he does.

This never really happend in SR. We had the bank robbery, followed by the Kitty Distraction. Other feats were mentioned, but we saw them through an onscreen TV.

So my question is, did we lose any superfeats, like the montage in STM, to cuts made to shorten the film? Would this alleviate the complaints of people who said the movie lacked action?

I don't know what was cut besides the krypton stuff... what we got was ok... nothing really spectacular to me...personally I wouldn't have had a problem with a scene of him blowing a hurricane away or finding bin laden, or saving a disabled submarine, stopping a building from falling down.

you know... stuff only superman or his son can do that's new and inspirational to the kiddies...

Superman saving Metropolis during the Earthquake was a montage of superfeats:

-Saved that guy
-Stopped that giant sign
-Heat visioned the falling glass
-Super Breath the emerging fire underground
-Stopped the Daily Planet Globe
-Saved Lois, Richard & Jason

They showed a bunch on the TV in the Daily planet building.

I thought a superfeats montage was missing.

to those who didn't read the first post, I'm talking about Superman's initial return. In STM, upon his revelation, Superman had a montage/sequence where he saved airforce 1, stopped the bank robbers, the cat burgler, wowed the cops, and set up the little girl for a beating by saving her cat.

I'm not talking about climax of the film, where superfeats are inevitable. That's a given.

I think the movie could have used a superfeats montage/sequence mixed in with the bank robbery and the kitty distraction. It would have added/extended that 3rd action sequence to fill the movie out a little more. (by 3rd, I mean second, there are essentially only three action sequences in the film, the plane/shuttle, the bankrobbery and Kitty's mustang, and the metropolis rescue/climax.)

I feel that the 'return' superfeats montage/sequence was forgotten, or cut. It would have rounded the movie out a little, and provided a little more punch, as well as balance out with the high drama/melodrama that the movie contained.

And please, if you read the first post, watching superfeats through a tv, on a theatre screen (a screen within a screen) is not what I'm talking about.

so bassicly what is said here, is that superman only saves the plane, then there's the robbery which we've already seen in tv-spots, the earthquake which is over in like 2 seconds, and then him throwing NK into space... Dont tell me that's it, cause it's pathetic!

Did you see the movie yet Naite?

I'm just sayin, when you break the film down, you've got three major sequences.

1)the plane - A+

2)the bankrobbery/kitty distraction - C+ (good quality, not enough quantity)

3)the earthquake and dealing with NK - A- (the earthquake is a little disconnected, but rescuing Lois, and gettin rid of NK was awesome)

There's some little things thrown in here and there, and action sequence 3) is relatively long, with a lot of drama in the breaks from action.

I think a midfilm superfeats montage would have just given the film a little more life. The film is still awesome IMO, I'm just sayin it could have had a tiny bit more action, and it would be minty goodness

Wouldn't you seperate the earthquake and dealing with NK. They take place at two different points in the movie. I wouldn't say they were the same sequence.

They used the media and even Clack gets to see himself on TV. We see 5 or 6 news clips of him on TV in different places around the world doing his heroic thing.

perhaps, but the NK action really only lasts about 60seconds, including all the bits with Lex and the others trying to escape.

Then why don't you offer the filmmakers another 30 or 40 million dollars to pay for putting all of that in the picture.

Do people think making a movie just takes a magic wand? Jeez.

Another 40 million and that movie woulda been worse.

More times than not, the more expensive a movie is, the worse it will be. There are a few exceptions to this rule, but for more money does NOT automatically equal better movie.

NOPE. And I wont until August 4'th:(

don't look at this thread as a negative towards the action in the film. I give the movie an 82%. It was good, really good. But it was lacking in areas that would have given it a higher grade (100% is unattainable, if they made that movie, they'd never have to make another superman movie again)
