Supergirl Supergirl General Discussion Thread - Part 2

I get the feeling that, aside from one initial meeting, Clark's largely left Kara alone, and I can easily see him making a conscious decision to maintain that distance, even for something as monumental as her making the decision to become the hero and person she was always meant to be.

The same way they explain it away on Flash/Arrow or in the comics.

Why doesn't Barry just run to Starling and knock out all the LoA guys?

Why don't the Flash or Green Lantern or Superman just go and body all of Batman's villains? How quickly could peak Wally West handle the Joker or Catwoman? How quickly could Supes dispatch Killer Croc?

Because they're busy.

That's about all you're going to get. It's been an issue that people just look the other way on for as long as there have been shared superhero universes.

But Arrow/Flash has changed that playing field significantly. Cross overs have been frequent and nearly every major threat has been met with one. Sure, Barry doesn't go out of his way to stop a bank robber, but why would he?

Supergirl, is presumably going to be dealing with bigger things. End of the world-level threats (or we will be looking at a Lois and Clark situation where all she does is cross her arms and stand there as powerless villains try to run). Superman is established in this world. Would he really leave his COUSIN to deal with catastrophes on her own?

I'd say Yes, because it's typical 'parenting' behavior. She needs to learn to be able to stand on her own as a hero and be able to handle herself when it comes to massive catastrophes, and him constantly showing up to help her out every time there's some big scary situation to deal with would be counterintuitive.

in order for something to look as atrocious as this show looks, I feel you actually have to have a team of people TRYING to make it looks this atrocious. i mean, is everyone involved in this show so completely void of talent, creativity, and imagination that this is the best they can do? like, that preview was a chore to get through. I'm shocked that this show even got picked up. there's no way it gets a second season. i feel anyone dumb enough to endure this trainwreck is already involved with the production of it. there's not enough of them left to give it the ratings it needs to survive.

That's a tough sell. I applaud your effort though in trying to explain it. It's just something that personal, you don't have a friend deliver. You bring it to her, and wish her luck on her hero's journey.

It would have made more sense (if trying to avoid Superman showing up) to have a very Clark Kent looking shot where they don't reveal the face, and he stops by with one hand where the camera zooms in on "C.K." for his work bag... and the other hand a plan bag of sorts. He puts it in her hand. She looks down at the bag, then behind her... and we hear the sound of *wooosh* flight taking off. She reads a note on top of it. "It's a family heirloom. Use this for your journey."

They asked Ollie why he just didn't call Barry when he was breaking into Ra's' stronghold to rescue Malcolm and they basically said that Barry was busy.

This same line of thinking could be applied to any comic story.

Where were the DC heavy hitters during the Long Halloween?

@BatmanVSuperman: We're just going to have to agree to disagree on this one. :)

The trailer makes this show look like "What if The Devil Wears Prada had a superheroine as the lead instead of a normal girl" which isn't necessarily a bad thing since that movie is awesome. :hehe:

It would've been a nice (and possibly better) gesture for Clark to show up and give her the blanket in person, but having James do it isn't a bad alternative, at least IMO.

Ah, I missed the Dean Cain DC moment :)

guess that pretty much confirms what we all suspected. Dean and Helen will be playing the Danvers.

Yep.

For the record, I missed the flash-shot of the Danverses myself the first two times I watched the trailer.

I saw a Superman Returns looking plane sequence version and the super way to make a vehicle stop from SV. ;)

I missed it, too.

anyways, could anyone tell what color Kara's eyes were?

were they blue? some shots they looked a bit greenish to me.....

yeah....I know.......I nitpick on details like that..........:o

Not sure why eye color is such an issue for you, but whatever. :)

I personally like that she may have Hazel eyes because it allows them to appear blue in certain shots and green or brown in others depending on her mood(s).

If eye color change is a bother for you...You are gonna be really shocked to see what color Olsen is then  ;)

lol.

Yeah. I know it's nitpicking. but small details like that matter to me.....lol.

Supergirl is supposed to be blonde with blue eyes.

They can Olsen's race, but they better not change Supergirl's eye color.

:cmad:

:o

Lol too funny :D

Initial impression is this show looks fun but it isn't really my cup of tea. I really hope they hit out of the park though. Go SG!
