Rogue on the bottom-right looks like Parasite.
Who are the others?

I think it's a potentially dangerous choice to make this a "Chic-flick" superhero show, instead of an outright "Superhero show".

It's NOT a 'chic flick' superhero show. It's Arrow/Flash with a female lead and Serialized Procedural elements, with bits of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and iZombie thrown in for good measure.

They had to play up the girly part. Most of the GA only know the character as Superman but a girl. They had to make people care about the character. Change the identity of the character in the GA's eyes from the girl version of Superman to a version of Superman for girls. That's why they played down the Supergirl fighting aliens with the DEO and played up the Devil Wears Prada. (And made her work look more like Devil Wears Prada than the Daily Planet)

Kara's workplace is more News Corporation than Vogue; the only thing that her workplace has in common with what was in The Devil Wears Prada is that Cat Grant, like Miranda from TDWP, was inspired by Anna Wintour.

How is this in any way like Ugly Betty? Just because Kara's initially dressed nerdily? Just because she works for an Anna Wintour-esque Super!Bitca?

I'm no expert on Ugly Betty, since...well, it didn't interest my any. Like I said, whatever comparison you want to make...or even if you don't want to make a comparison, but I'm trying to not call it a show for women since I know men and women can both have varied interests. But it's hard to talk around that because it totally is aiming for a female demographic, and the whole "She starts out as just an assistant to a you-know-what, and that one military guy doesn't believe in her, but she's going to prove herself and make it in the big city while struggling with romance and not knowing what to wear" with the vibe they're going for is putting me off. It just is.

^ None of that stuff - which is actually part and parcel of the archetypal 'hero's journey' - is exclusively women-oriented.

It´s worse than I though... And Calista Flockhart is a horrible choice, just horrible. I am well into my 30s, I am not a teenager anymore. Of course I was not expecting an adult orientated superhero show such as Daredevil, but at least give us a decent show which doesn´t keep out anyone beyond 23 years old.

How does the series "keep out anyone beyond 23 years old"?

It's the archetypal 'hero's journey' story couched in the Superman mythos and with the same tonal narrative structure as Arrow/Flash, albeit with the addition of Serialized Procedural elements.

Cheesy, borderline silly…I’m not sure if the show is trying to be a parody of itself or clueless as to what audience they’re trying to reach. Well, in fact they seem to be aiming it at girls and young women. like the “Devil wears Prada” tossed into a blender the 1984 Supergirl and then sprinkled with a little “Pitch Perfect”. I plan to watch it and hope we get some good action scenes before it gets cancelled. From looks of the trailer it seems we may get a couple.

I hope it's as good as iZombie since I really dig that show but then that show has the benefit of NOT being an action show. Better to not do action than to do action poorly IMO. But this seems even more 'girly' than iZombie.

CBS playing it safe, not taking any risk. Marvel still setting the bar beyond reach.

I love Kara Zor El but this looks a bit too sugary for my liking I think.

I think it's obvious they're trading on familial ground. The failed WW pilot had some of the same hallmarks.

The thing about the Flash/Arrow is that the show is still filled with the usual "girly" things like angst/romance and stuff,so it's not like you can't have that in the "manly" SH show. But the "Low level working girl, dealing with corporate *****s and crying in her pillow over her lost/secret love" thing is clearly them making an appeal to gals.

It's dangerous,'cause guys make up a bigger part of the audience, and if that flick chic stuff gets too heavy, they'll tune out in droves.

I'm 100% positive that the shot of Kara in her apartment moping was meant to be in relation to depression over having to go back to * just * being a PA to the world's worst boss (Cat Grant, Miss Super!Bitca) after having finally broken out of her shell.

I wonder if there will be some Lex foreshadowing as well? Silhouettes of bald man to come as well :D

The trailer was better than i expected. The cast looks charming and the sfx were better great, save a couple shots.

Surprised to see all the negative comments regarding the Catco stuff. Secret identity, news office, light-hearted tone is exactly what a lot of people want for Superman, yet when it's applied to Supergirl, now it's lame and just for teenage girls?...I'm curious what tone people wanted for a Supergirl show (granted I have never read a Supergirl comic).

Finally saw the trailer. I'm a bit worried. On the plus side I think she will be pretty awesome in the role.
