Supergirl Supergirl Season 1 Episode 16 -"Falling". MAJOR SPOILERS

That would not surprise me either....they've done that with Flash...except it was split between February and March...

I thin the flash reruns were in case of pre emptions for the primaries

OK, it's time for me to go on a political rant. Leave it to neocons to throw shade.

In the episode “Falling,” Supergirl’s Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart) needs a replacement for Lucy Lane, who resigned from CatCo during last week’s show. When Kara (Melissa Benoist) tells her she has a list of qualified applicants who are ranked according to the “least annoying,” Cat asked if there were any Republicans. Kara answers, yes – but they're reformed.

And the neocons who write for this media propaganda site which i once trusted are suffering a big case of ******** all because of that one word REFORMED. What do they mean? Like Ross Perot in 1992 the reform candidate took votes away from the neocon's idol George H W Bush to give the election to Bill Clinton? Or perhaps there is a new batch of Republicans like Senator Rand Paul of KY and congressmen like Justin Amash of Michigan who are more libertarian in their leanings that seem to get the establishment all riled up (and that would include Fox News and so called conservative media).

Look Hollywood is still full of leftist propaganda and Hillary supporters (just ask Ali Adler). But I want the neocons/establishment to know that anymore of their ******** and they get what they want...material from Hillary Clinton or worse Bernie Sanders to keep their websites going and going and going. And Hollywood also fears Republicans winning the White House taking away their bully pulpit. They need to know this fake left-right paradigm will no longer be tolerated. Both major parties are at fault for the problems we face as a nation.

I'm going to do this review a little differently than I have in the past, I'll go character by character this time around...

Cinnabon -- You know who I'm talking about.....I actually felt sorry for her, dang "Kara on Crack", slam dunked her and threw her off the court. Which was a fantastic way to bring in the Silver Banshee, and instill hatred for both Kara and Cat (ala: here comes Livewire again).

Cat -- Calista has this character down....loved, loved, loved the scene between her and Supergirl/Kara at the end. She sooooo knows that they are the same person....lol

James -- I cannot put my finger on it, I loved his "passion for justice" in "Solitude" but it seemed he was right back to "wishy washy" again. BUT, I sooooo loved the fact that he DID NOT fall for Kara while dancing...that showed that he has a strong "moral compass" which makes him a little stronger character for me, but they still haven't fleshed him out enough for me yet.

Winn -- LOL, poor Winn, it is all about to come crashing down, bless his heart. I was hoping for a scene similar to the one in "Human For A Day" where he "checks" Kara, I was looking for something similar where he "checks" Supergirl.

Alex -- I have no words actually, she brings it home EVERY episode. That scene between Kara and Alex in Kara's apartment, just about did me in, for Alex to have to hear that from Kara of all people (even though as Alex said, I felt there was some truth in it as well) but good grief, how heart wrenching that was to watch, beautifully acted.......and it ticks me off a little each time I think about the fact that Calista (even though I love her) got the nod for "Best Supporting" at the Saturn Awards, I REALLY think that they either should have had both as nominees, or Chyler should have been up for it...Chyler and Melissa's chemistry is just flawless, I feel her admiration and love for her sister in a way that is very real, and makes me think of my big sister every episode. (which reminds me, I need to call her. ;) )

Hank -- I have fallen in love with David Harewood, I hope his wife doesn't mind....lol, he has embraced this role, in my opinion, as much as Melissa has embraced Kara/Supergirl. His facial expressions when he looks at these two ladies as a surrogate father is just fantastic to watch, and I was much happier with the fluidity of Jonn's movements as MM this time around, much better than earlier episodes. Good to see that he was finally able to kick some Kryptonian ass, even though it was Kara's ass that he kicked... :( But, loving his character, more and more with each episode. The last scene between Hank and Alex was just beautifully done, those two have great chemistry as well.

Kara/supergirl -- She blows my mind each and every episode. She was scary as hell as "Kara on Crack" and absolutely broke my heart at the end when she was apologizing to Alex, a short, but powerful scene. I have to say, I don't want to see the "Red K Kara" for awhile.....lol Kinda scurry....but the bar scene, ala Superman III was just awesome.

What I wish we would have scene was a scene between Hank and Kara, but I think that may come in this next episode....I certainly hope so.

Another 10 for me, and this episode jumped into the #1 spot as well as far as my favorites. Taking a story line that has been done, redone, redone, and redone again, and make it this powerful was an amazing thing to watch.

Something else I want to see more of in Season 2, and that is the everyday stuff like the scene with the little girl getting bullied by her classmates....I love the montage scenes they have used in the past, I would love to see more of that.

I'm beginning to think this, also.

I'm envisioning a scene with Cat on the balcony alone with either Kara or Supergirl, don't care which, and Cat says something -- casually and simply -- which shows that she knows the secret, and Kara responds -- just as casually and simply -- which shows that she knows that Cat knows. The wall comes down with no fanfare at all and they just go from there.

god Melissa just KILLED IT in this episode. she was so awesome when she was 'under the influence'. and I agree her scene at the end with her and her sister in the DEO was so heartbreaking I loved it, I am very quickly becoming a fan of her in this role she is just too damn awesome.

Well on its own, this episode was definitely great to watch. As others have already stated, it really showcased everyone on their top game and form tonight.

My only gripe, as usual, was the fact that out of all of the times to leave Superman out, they had to do so in this episode.

I mean Supergirl is going on a rampage and makes headlines and yet this doesn't attract her cousin's attention?

Here is info on that.
Why Superman Will Be A Very Important Part Of Supergirl

supergirl_69554.jpg

Potential spoilers for Supergirl ahead!
Even though the upcoming TV show Supergirl is starring Kryptonian Kara Zor-El, there has hasn't been much said about her significantly more famous cousin Superman. Although the original series premise mentioned Kara's relationship with him, no other information has been provided on what role he'll play in the CBS series, if any. Superman is already busy with his own adventures on the big screen, so no one needs to worry about him losing any attention, but new information has been leaked that suggests that he'll also have a crucial part to play in Supergirl…well, his reputation, at least.
New videos have surfaced online (via **************.com) showing various actors auditioning for the roles of Kara, Kara's sister Alex and Jimmy Olsen, who in the comics is a photographer at The Daily Planet and Superman's "pal." During several of these videos, Superman is discussed at length, such as Jimmy reminiscing about when he saw the Man of Steel swing the tenants of a burning building. The dialogue from these audition scripts may not match the lines we'll eventually hear on the show, but it sounds like Superman will maintain an important presence in the series. By the time Kara "goes public" with her powers, her cousin is already well established as a famous superhero (or perhaps the only superhero if this world doesn't include other people with special abilities).

Given that DC has decided to keep their movie and TV universes separate, it's unlikely that the DC Cinematic Universe's Superman, played by Henry Cavill, will be the one characters frequently talk about. This also begs the question of whether we'll ever see Superman in person on the series. The biggest problem with including him is his presence inadvertently overshadowing the titular protagonist. Kara is powerful enough to handle most threats on her own, but what happens if she faces an enemy that's out of her league? If this was the comics, unless he's off-planet or indisposed by another enemy, he would probably rush in to save her and help defeat the bad guy.

While it would eventually be nice to see Kara and Kal flying alongside each other on the small screen, Supergirl will have to create a suitable explanation for why he isn't showing up every other episode to hang out or jump in with an assist so the protagonist can get the attention she deserves. Let's have only one Kryptonian shining the spotlight for the time being. Maybe he was cleaning the Fortress of Solitude, accidentally turned on the Phantom Zone projector and got trapped in the ghostly dimension. That should keep him out of play for a few seasons.

Don't get your hopes up, they'll never have him.

Here is some past info.

Superman Will Return to the Supergirl TV Series
The new CBS Supergirl TV show has gotten off to a great start with viewers. Fans are already on board with the solo adventures of Kara Zor-El, but just three episodes in, the series is calling on the Big Blue Boy Scout to make a cameo on the series and offer his cousin some assistance.
In a recently released teaser and two extended sneak peeks, Superman is called in to lend a hand with the evil Reactron (Chris Browning Agent Carter), who is menacing National City and even Maxwell Lord. There is also an extended clip in which Cat Grant interviews Supergirl, only to confirm her relation to Superman and ask if she can do everything the Man of Tomorrow can.

The new teaser above is for episode 3 of Supergirl, titled ‘Fight or Flight,’ which gives viewers a fun, but very obscured look at the Man of Steel. If the video preview is any indication of what we’ll see in the episode, then our look at Superman will continue to be blurry and etherial at best. The Supergirl series has always been a standalone vehicle for Kara to do her thing, so any real presence from Superman is unlikely to occur. Couple that with the fact that Warner Bros. has a lot of standards about not confusing the movie and television brands, and it’s clear why the character remains in the margins.

Fans previously saw a very brief appearance from Supes in the Supergirl pilot episode.
It may seem strange that the showrunners are already dipping back in the Kryptonian well to bring Superman into the series for a cameo, since the show is so focused on Kara, but a show like Supergirl is still working hard to find a steady audience and prove itself. Supergirl only has an initial 13-episode order, and if they want to get the coveted “back 9″ episode order to give the series a full season (and the chance of a second) then the series needs to impress each week with new villains and guest appearances from established heroes like this one.

Still, the series has already proven itself to be more savvy than to have Superman appear as a simple ratings grab. While an appearance from the Big Red ‘S’ can’t hurt things in terms of viewership, the clip above makes it clear Supes’ celebrity and hero status are elements that weigh heavily on Kara as she continues to forge her own identity as a hero — a task that is made considerably more difficult when it begins under such an immense shadow and when Cat Grant’s questions gravitate toward the kind that would never be asked of a male superhero. From what the series has shown so far, an appearance from Superman this early in the season will likely have an important impact on how Kara continues to define herself as an individual hero, as Superman’s cousin, and most importantly, as a woman.

At any rate, fans of the series will continue to tune in, as many are likely hoping the show’s continued success will lead to a crossover with the already existing DC TV Extended Universe, which includes shows like Arrow and The Flash.
Supergirl will return this Monday to CBS at 8:00 PM with ‘Fight or Flight.’ Check out an extended sneak peek below:

Superman WILL Appear On The Supergirl TV Show — But Not In The Way You Might Think!

superman-supergirl-casting-tv-show-cbs__oPt.jpg

Well this is an interesting decision!

Supergirl has not been the hit CBS hoped, and it seems like the show is looking to boost the ratings with the power of the Man of Steel!
TV Line recently learned that the comic book series will finally be bringing in Superman, in what could end up being a recurring role in the show!

But it may not be the Superman you think.

Henry Cavill — who plays Supes in Man of Steel as well as the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice — will NOT be making an appearance.

Instead, the show is reportedly looking to cast a 13-year-old actor who has "future leading man looks" to play a young Clark Kent.

This obviously means that we're going to see Kal-El — Superman's Kryptonian name — in some flashbacks as Kara/Supergirl, played by Melissa Benoist, is in her 20s and Superman is already saving the world at this point!

We've already seen Superman in some very quick shadowy shots — like the one below — but hopefully this means the show is open to the idea of adding the Last Son of Krypton into the mix in a larger capacity!

Are you on board with adding the big blue boy scout to the show?

This is going to sound weird, I gave the ep a 9 because I thought it was really well done, but I didn't enjoy it as such. The acting was excellent from Melissa, she really has gotten a chance to play Kara across the range and delivered every time, and the fact there will be repercussions, both large and intimate, for the things done and said during Kara's heel turn is bold, but I guess I just missed the feel good factor I enjoy about the show.

The scenes that really were stand-outs for me were the two between Kara and Cat, and the scene when Kara woke up at the DEO with her system flushed, the anguish from her felt so real. I also thought there were a couple of neat touches from Calista and Chyler in their responses when Cat denounced Supergirl and Kara blasted Alex at her apartment respectively.

The Kara vs J'onn fight was well done and now he's been exposed, it will be interesting to see where that goes, they are shaking the status quo up in the first season. Max also seemed surprisingly genuine when he suddenly showed up offering help, I wonder what he's up to. :hmm

It was hard for me to watch this episode, I REALLY DID NOT LIKE seeing Kara under the influence of Red K....and I REALLY DON'T want to see it again....and that almost made me give it a 9 instead of a 10, but I immediately watched it again and it wasn't quite as jarring and I could enjoy the dialogue, acting and chemistry of the actors. That helped me move it to a 10. But, honestly I had a hard time talking about the scenes because they were so jarring, so I changed my review to a characterization review, rather than scene by scene.

The rating may not have been great, but at many of the websites that are usually slamming the episodes, this one is getting quite a bit of love. OOOOOOH the irony. LOL

What a great episode, unlike episodes of other Superman shows where Red Kryponite makes for a fun episode I thought this one was tense as hell. Kara was downright scary at times. What a performance from Melissa Benoist.

- The fight between Supergirl and Jonn was awesome.
- The Superman III peanuts nod was brilliant, I couldn't believe they went there

On the naegative side:
- So Maxwell Lord a becoming an ally to the DEO/Kara now? I really hope that isn't the case and he's just trying to win their trust so he can strike back.
- I was abit disapointed in James at the end, his reaction to her seemed out of character with what was happening in the episode.
- A little nitpick, The DEO has a cell that can hold Kryptonian's, it held Astra. Why not just hit Supergirl with Kryptonite darts as they did in episode 1 and then lock her up?

8/10

Don't get your hopes up, they'll never have him.

I agree unfortunately, can't see it ever happening outside of blurry shots and Young Kal El's.

Usually i don't like these kind of episode but this one was outstanding.
Enjoyed every last second something that i have never done in previous episodes.
Wish she could have stayed evil a few episodes longer. Loved her evil outfit as well.

Oh, no....could not have handled another episode of her evil...lol

I feel Kara will feel bad about what just happened with the other assistant, but she really brought it on herself.

Yeah. While all her actions and speeches were backed by at least a decent chunk of truth, this is a case where Kara would have done substantially the same thing even as her normal self ( assuming a equivalently problematic "scoop" that doesn't depend on Supergirl being evil ). I mean, it would have probably involved some antics with the sidekicks, and Kara would have probably tried to put in a good word with Cat. She still would have turned her in.

They took a story that has been used sooooo much, and yet made it, in my opinion, into the best episode this season.

I'm inclined to agree. This episode had probably the best writing in the series yet. Only weak points were a *few* bits of Evil Kara, and Maxwell Lord's antics. Otherwise, it was Melissa hitting it on all cylinders as Evil!Kara. . . except its *not* just "evil Kara", because every single one of her big "evil speeches" was upwards of 95% true. Even when she tore the heart out of her sister, it was exactly the things Alex fears about herself. And then they let the consequences stand, as something to remain for the future.

Seriously, could we have more episodes like this, please?

Melissa ought to win an Emmy for her performance in this series because she might very well be the best actress in a comic book role we've seen in any medium, big or small screen. Maybe even best actor. I'd have a hard time coming up with someone else's performance to top what she has done. Kara's scene when she woke and was crying at the realization at what she had done was very moving.

Now Cat must surely know they are one and the same. Supergirl spoke more softly and hesitantly at the end and often sounded just like Kira. Maybe to win back Cat's trust she should reveal her true identity and take her into her confidence.

That was surprising that Jonn would out himself like that.

I think this did more effectively in 43 mins what Spider-Man 3 failed to fully do in 2+ hours. It reminded me a little of the symbiote story in the animated 90s Spider-Man series which was better than SM3's version and showed Parker actually going dark and dangerous in a similar way.

I feel compelled to point something out to all those complaining about the DEO shooting bullets at Dark!Supergirl... said bullets were Kryptonite-laced (you can tell because the guns' muzzle flashes are glowing green).

They didn't have any noticeable effect on her (probably because of adrenaline and the Red Kryptonite), but they were being used.

So could Cat be the one that Kara debates about trusting someone new with her identity in the next episode, Manhunter? Who else could it be? It can't be Lucy, because she already told James to tell her, so she's alraedy debated in her mind previously.

Unless it's the senator.

Well it would have been nice to get an explanation for that on the show if that was the case.

I'm not well versed in Superman lore but if I recall, Red K makes you immune to Green K.
Someone more knowledgeable correct me if I'm wrong.

This was one of the best episodes emotionally speaking. I seriously cried when Kara woke up at the DEO.

I still think it might be Lucy. She has already made the commitment to do it. I also think that she feels very guilty about their break up, and maybe in an attempt to get them back together and move on herself she is debating on telling Lucy herself. I think she still believes that James loves Lucy, because he did a very good job of running all around that bush called "I love Kara..."

- The Superman III peanuts nod was brilliant, I couldn't believe they went there

It makes sense, since this episode basically used the plot of Superman III. It may have seemed like Red-K due to the Kryptonite's color and because Red K always had the same effect on Clark in Smallville, i.e. extreme attitude, but this wasn't Red K. It was synthesized Kryptonite, just like in Superman III. And the synthesized Kryptonite turned Kara into a big meanie, just like it did to Clark in Superman III. And its effects lasted until it was purged, just like in Superman III. Comic Red-K has completely random effects that go away on their own after awhile, so there's really not much correlation between this Red K and comic Red K other than the color, but I'm certain the merging of the Superman III synthesized Kryptonite and the Smallville Red K will be the official Red K of this universe.

Monday episode was pretty dam good. First i was a little disapointed that red k was synthetic take and was made by lord totally knew that was going to happen. I hope if we do see it again in future episodes they will have it affect kara in different ways like some takes of red k did.

Bad ass kara was pretty wicked getting future silver banshee fired and tossing cat off of catco and the stuff with james was pretty wicked. I thought they handled her going bad and the outcomes pretty well with that. I am curious to see how kara will win over the city/public again and what not.

Also pretty interesting they had jon reveal himself to the public here. I would have expected them to hold off for awhile to maybe season 2. Curious to see what happens with hank/jon now with the rest of the season. Overall a pretty good episode.
