Official Description:

LIVEWIRE IS SET LOOSE UPON NATIONAL CITY — After Livewire (guest star Brit Morgan) seemingly breaks out of prison, Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) is intent on recapturing her. After training Mon-El (Chris Wood), Supergirl takes him with her when she sees Livewire attack the NCPD but things go awry when Mon-El puts Supergirl before the citizens of National City. Meanwhile, James (Mehcad Brooks) decides to come clean with Kara and M’Gann (guest star Sharon Leal) has a psychic attack and collapses into a coma. Rebecca Johnson directed the episode written by Caitlin Parrish & Katie Rose Rogers (#210). Original airdate 1/30/2017.

I wonder if they're going to play the David Bowie song in this episode.

Really James? Annoyed by Mon-El wanting to suit up? I swear the writers are out to get him!

I am not used to or liking this judgmental J'onn. I still wish they had made M'Gann younger so she could at least end up becoming his protege after this doom and gloom arc, better that then his potential love interest.

I like how James and Winn are just so easily able to leave their jobs in the middle of the day as if no one notices or nothing important happens.

Didn't Alex tell them not to come clean when they wanted? Don't leave that part out Alex.

I would be on James' side if they hadn't made him into such a glory hog. But his whole "I am more Guardian then James", stop ripping off Batman.

I still don't like James and the reasons he's Guardian, but they wrote Kara totally OOC in that confrontation to make her look in the wrong, imo. The argument she should have been making is NOT, "you aren't strong enough," but rather, "You were ALREADY a hero BEFORE." The argument they had her making instead made her look like such a hypocrite (especially considering she just saved another earth from aliens with the help of several "just human" superheroes), and I know it was on purpose to justify James, and that's just...annoying. This is HER show - the writers should not be tearing her character down to build him up.

EDIT: On the flip side, I love this M'Gann/J'onn thing now. And I actually did not see that twist with Livewire coming, so I'm not hating this episode. Just the James/Kara aspect.

I am fine with them not making Kara look perfect but they just suck when they try to put her in the wrong since it is so extreme. Especially having Kara be against James being a hero because he is human, what about Alex?

The twist was really nice, I wasn't expecting it either.

^Yeah, I don't need Kara to be perfect, but I hate when they write her so OOC to put her in the wrong. Especially to build up/vindicate a character who already IS, imo.

And now I'm finally starting to like Livewire, lol.

I hate slow motion fighting.

Hopefully Livewire gets away since she is a fun villain.

I feel like Livewire just became Supergirl's Captain Cold.

Hopefully, it would be a smart move tbh.

I know they have to use this set but its getting annoying how many "civilians" keep joining just because of their affiliation with Kara or Alex.

At least Kara came off better then Oliver did over on Arrow when he tried to keep Laurel from suiting up.

Another meh episode other than the M'Gann/J'onn stuff and the end with Mon-El.

She gave the speech at the end. However, the "you can die more easily than me" part is absolutely part of it, like it or not, and I don't think that's necessarily out of character.

BTW, I liked Mon-El's speech at the end. Honestly, I didn't really like the character, but he was very likable at that moment.

Yeah, their last scene together she was much more in-character, imo.

Agreed. Although the overly analytical part of me thinks that in-show it was actually a pretty dumb move considering Leslie's main vendetta was never against Supergirl - it was against Cat Grant - so one could assume the first thing she'd do now that she's free is go find Cat. But then the logical, "I know what you're doing, Show" part of me knows that Cat is gone save for a potential random special appearance or two, and so that's not a concern for Kara due to BTS reasons.

I feel this was a much better episode than last week's and it was a much stronger start.

I was glad Supergirl didn't support James as Guardian, but I don't like the writers trying to build James up at her expense.

Difference between James and Alex is that Alex had training while James didn't and for him it was sudden.

I did like the part of Mon-El, Winn, and James working together.

I also loved the Martian storyline involving J'onn, M'Gann, and Alex. This was a great way to bring J'onn and M'Gann closer.

I think she TOTALLY looked in the right....she simply, told the truth, truth hurts sometimes and is tough sometimes, and makes you look bad sometimes, but it is still the TRUTH. As long as she stays pissed, I'm glad.....LOL, I loved it. BUT, I KNOW THESE WRITERS, AND SHE WILL MELT LIKE BUTTER soon enough, and we will have Guardian forever. :whatever:

I really enjoyed the writing of this one, Parish is probably my favorite writers of the show. As far as the James/Kara stuff, I would have fired Winn's ass.....that was ridiculously STUPID on his part and he deserved to be FIRED...but I do agree, it seems the writers are trying every way they can to justify James, Kara's reaction doesn't bother me a bit, but Jonn???? Good lord what an eye roll moment.

Actually James has had training, he's a Black Belt.

exactamundo! Well, not the part "I didn't really like the character" but all the rest.....definitely. :)

This has been my fear about the Guardian storyline from the beginning that Kara was going to end up being in the wrong.
The show is called Supergirl, not Guardian.

Nooooooo...(and you're right, that's clearly what's going to happen) :csad:

Winn getting fired and losing his resources actually would have been a nice dose of consequences to this whole Guardian thing (since apparently him nearly dying was hardly a blip on James' radar), but no, we're supposed to believe they're in the right. Also, why does no one tell Winn that what he's doing for James is the same as what he does and has always been doing for Kara, just...in a van? I don't get his "now I'M a hero now too, let me be a hero Kara" stance he seems to be taking with this.

Do you remember which episode where he said he was Black Belt?
It was the one where he first proposed the idea to Winn (and Winn still thought he was crazy 'til the end). I wanna say 2x05?
