Superman getting his red undies back. Good or bad?

Wait. So his previous suit had his red underwear inside of his suit?

 

Going by the press release of the hardcover version, and what is said about issue #1000 itself, this "redesign" is for the covers only. Because the story(ies) inside are all Superman stories from the Action title that are considered the greatest/the best. Basically, a tribute book.

 

Red undies always and forever. I feel they are integral to his iconography which shouldn't be tampered with.

 

Red trunks forever. It was stupid to remove them in the first place.

 

i dig the red undies only and i mean only because it breaks up all that blue color scheme Supes has going on. i seen all his designs after he lost em and none of em seem to work! if they could come up with a design that would work without em i would be all for for it.. but since they havent!! Red tighties forever!!

I kinda dig these two designs.

 

No need to bring the tights back, the current look is perfect.

 

The red undies portray the need for Superman to have 2 layers around his super junk. They don't need to be red, but they can't be blue because they would blend in with his suit and not be as obvious.

 

I am in the field of I don't care either way. At first when they took them away in MOS I didn't like it but once seeing it on film and in the comics I was alright with them removing them. However I think the Rebirth/Reborn design is the best way to showcase the suit while keeping the red undies off. I personally don't see the need to put them back in fact if I were DC I would've adapted the Man of Steel suit for Superman and just gone that way but as I said before I really don't care either way just as long as we keep getting the great stories we have been getting.

 

I'm not particularly bothered about the movies but comics are supposed to be bright and colourful and camp. Red undies are no more or less ridiculous than any number of other comic book costume.

 

The trunks are definitely my preference, but the two rebirth costumes were acceptable in my opinion. The new 52 suit was trash and glad it's gone.

I hated the New 52 and didn’t like the rebirth costumes either.
The classic from 1940’s on, with the red trunks stayed for nearly 70 years!
Why change it in the first place?!?

I'm a pro-trunks man. I've always thought the outfit looks unbalanced with out them - something's missing. I hope they're making a permanent return - and that Batman gets his trunks back too.

 

I wouldn't want to see them return in the movies but in the comics I don't mind either way.

 

So if it's just back for a tribute, why did they feel the need to put those MoS-style bracelets on it?

 

For all those who are old enough to remember, this is like the Classic Coke VS the New Coke. We all know what happened. The trunks should've never been taken out. Long live classic Superman. . .

 

The one on the right makes him look like he's wearing some kind of corset.

I prefer Superman with the red undies. It's classic and iconic. It breaks up all that blue.

I can't imagine that in the movies it would look any less silly than Cavill's digitally erased moustache.

If people had to choose between red undies in Justice League but a properly shaven Cavill or just the all blue suit but Cavill's digital shave looking noticeable and producing some odd effects, which would you choose?

 

I agree red trunks should have never been removed.
