World Superman III new DVD--anyone got it?

its pretty cool, get some interesting delelted/extended scenes and you get the making of it along with commentary and its redigatlly mastered so pick it up@

Unless Pryor is deleted from the entire film, to me it's worthless.

...and let me say, it's not a dig at Pryor personally. He was a funny guy who did some nice work. He just shouldn't have been anywhere near a Superman movie. Look at the movie poster for Superman 3, it tells the whole story.

I agree.

However, there are some great moments in III and that all had to due with Reeve's performance of the "bad" Superman and the fight between him and Clark -- that was classic -- straight out of a comic book.

I'm actuallt not a fan of that scene, or any scene from 3. It just feels awkward. Was it all in his head? Did Clark actually manifest himself and fight evil Supes? That doesn't make sense. Why would another person just pop out of him. Yes I know he's not human, but please. To me it's just more of the Lester campiness.

However, Reeve always brought integrity and respect to the character. To bad Lester and the Salkinds didn't give Superman any respect in part 3.

The vintage making of Superman III documentary is particularly great on the new DVD.

That's the sad thing about it, the special effects are terrific, but the film as a whole is a mess. There's one shot in particular which is truly fabulous, it's after Superman has turned good again, where he's flying through the big canyon to get to the bad guys. It's just an amazing shot considering there were no computers used back then.

^ Yup, that shot is pretty damn cool. Shame about the rest of the film. :(

The morons completely ignored Donner's attempt to bring serious and epic comic book movies to the screen when they decided to make Superman III a comedy first, superhero action movie second. This is a Richard Pryor vehicle no doubt, and on the whole its a terrible movie.

But it does have good moments:
- At the beginning when Superman changes in the photo booth, he gives the kid the "good" Clark-less pics.
- The whole Smallville scenes were well done, and a nice departure.
- Of course, the bad Superman scenes were also excellent. As well as when bad Superman goes on a slight rampage.
