Ok so I was watching Superman 4 for the first time in a while last night, but I think something was missing. The last time I saw this movie was on UPN while I was at work like 5 years ago, and I couldve sworn there was a scene with this (badly) animated tornado, complete with crappy cow and a grandma in a rocking chair. Now, I used to flip channels alot while I was working at this place, but for the past 5 years I was totally sure this awful scene was in Superman 4. Does anyone know if maybe this scene was added to the tv version to add more time, or am I just wayyy off?

WTF

Lmao. Thx for the laugh. I havent seen Superman 4 in years.

I think the scene you are talking about was in Superman III. The supercomputer was able to control the weather, and the villain used it to destroy coffee plantations in South America

Actually I think you're both right. There were tornado scenes in both movies. In Superman 4 there was a scene where he saved a kid who gets caught up in the tornado. It usually gets edited out for time (or crappiness :p ). I don't remember the cow or the grandma but I haven't seen it in a long time!

When Superman 4 first went on TV, it was too short, even with commercials, to fill the two hour slot. So they added scenes cut from the film, back into it to fill out time. I saw that scene too. It had just been deleted from theatrical release.

There was also a scene in Russia where Nuclearman attempts to set off a nuclear rocket in Red Square and Supes stops it.

As I recall they did it by blueing fibrefill onto a cone shaped piece and mounted it on a turning mechanism and shot it bluescreen, then composited it. But that is what you get when Warner's give you 40 million to make the movie and you take most of the money and use it to shoot a few other movies like Masters of the Universe. I think the final budget was 10 mill and they were given 40, and that is what it took to make it decently. Friggen Golan and Globus. Warner's shoudl ahve sued them right away and demanded the 40 mill be put into the film.

Thanks for the info guys

As for how the scene was done, I just remember some things being super animated. There might have even been a really cheap looking couple of cartoon rabbits in there...

Hopefully this scene will be on the special edition thats supposed to come out..
