Superman & Lois General News & Discussion Thread (TAG SPOILERS!)

I was talking more in general, not you. I said this back in like season 2 when everyone was whining about all of the kids (including some that love Smallville which was 95% teen angst) but as someone who teaches HS that is how kids are. If you want Clark and Lois to have kids it makes sense for them to act like kids. Melodrama is just part of it...and on a show that is on a rather low budget network they are going to play that up a bit more because of the audience (CW viewers) and because it is cheaper. Sometimes it was a bit much but then again...so are teens ;)

I get that the cancer story was triggering to a lot of people, but I also think it was an important story to tell for many reasons. I would rather they take that swing. I get what you are saying though.
Totally agreed on the complaints about teenagers being teenagers. That part never bothers me 😅

And yeah, I get that it's important for real life issues like cancer & grief to have a place in TV shows, that it is a good way of raising awareness & generating conversation.

It's just, selfishly... does it have to be my comfort show? And does it have to be the focus? (I.e. I appreciated the miscarriage reference in S1, because it was a reference to a past experience... I would not have wanted to see a whole season of the family dealing with a miscarriage in the present).

Can't the high stakes in S4 just be that Lex's side kick Amanda has figured out the family secret by the second half of the season, and maybe she shares it with Lex and they go after the boys with a green k ring? But the season starts off with some family quality time after cancer year? I know Doomzarro made that impossible (hence me hating that from the get go), but that's my idea of a fun final season!

Every episode being framed by grief, maybe exploring the different stages of grief, anger, denial etc. Every character talking about it in new ways every episode as we see Lois struggling not to fall apart while Lex kicks her while she's down...

That's just not gonna be fun for me.

Except maybe the flashbacks. Those could be fun.

I just don’t expect Clark to be dead for more than a few eps, so I can’t really be bothered by it tbh.

Plus I’m hyped for the flashbacks, which bring me more joy than anything else on the show.
Definitely share that flashback joy. Hope you are right about him being back quickly... but based on the timeline of when flashback scenes were being filmed, it seems like it goes on for a while.

I just finished a marathon of Superman and Lois to get ready for the death of Superman storyline. Tyler is by far the best live action Superman. I am sad to see him leave the roll. Bitsy is tremendous as Lois. The feels……..Unlike other variations the emotion and love felt earned after 3 seasons.

My notes for those not wanting to watch the whole video:

- Teases to go back and listen to a promise Lex made in last 2 episodes of season 3

- There's something DC comics mention biriefly that could lead to something interesting later in the season

- Some if the darkest imagery you will ever see in a Superman property

- Characters start to lose hope

- Side characters serve a narrative purpose every episode

- Something happens in episode 3 that will be a big reward for long time viewers of the show that have been really invested in these characters. If you can't watch it live, don't be on twitter

- Ep3 also involves some drama between characters that is both gut wrenching but will also have you 'clutching your pearls' and it was set up in the two prior episodes

- Episode 3 sets up the rest of the season in crucial ways

So... most speculation following this is we ARE ACTUALLY GOING TO SEE JON GETTING POWERS!!

It's not 100%... but I can't think of a single other thing that fits. 13:55 is when he starts talking about episode 3 if you wanna listen for yourself.

Also combine that with the hinted wording in the episode description that 'Jonathsn finds new strength'... 😁

Marvel's Agents of SHIELD star Elizabeth Henstridge, who directed an episode of Superman & Lois in both seasons two and three, will return to the series later this fall to ply a pivotal role in the show's final season. Henstridge, who will also direct the fifth episode of the ten-episode season, has been tapped to play Lex Luthor's daughter, who as yet doesn't have a name. In the new season, Luthor is fixated on reuniting with his daughter, who left in her teens when Lex was convicted of murder and went to jail.

I don’t know if there is any actor that plays Clark Kent as good as Tyler. The scene when he wanted his kids to wear matching tee shirts on vacation is pure Clark.  :whoops: Johnathan was like dad is going pure Griswald.

For sure. He has cemented himself as my favorite Clark Kent and Superman by far. Better than Reeve and Cavill, both of whom I also love, but I think the television series format allows this Clark to feel more fleshed out than previous versions could in a roughly two hour movie. But in addition, seeing the father side of Clark is something we haven't had in previous live-action interpretations to this extent, unless you want to count the moments with Jason in Superman Returns.

I am still a Margo fan but Bitsy’s Lois is outstanding as well. She thinks Clark is such a dork but loves him anyway. I just wish this show would get more hype. Love the Penguin show but Superman and Lois is one of the best superhero shows I have seen. On par with the first seasons of Arrow, Daredevil, and the Flash.

Gotta load up my CW app again on Tue.

Tonight. Don't forget, the first two episodes are airing back-to-back. So set your PVR accordingly.

Maybe his wedding ring? On another note, it looks like they made some minor changes to his costume. The 'S' emblem and belt look different from last season.
Looks like! Which implies secret reveal... evidence stacking up.

Possibly, though I feel like it would be a slight rehash of how they ended "Supergirl".

Also, does anyone else feel like Lex Luthor is portrayed as Lois's archenemy on this show? From everything that we've seen and heard about, it doesn't seem like this version of Lex Luthor has the intense animosity/hatred for Tyler's Superman like he normally had in other portrayals.

I've seen an interview where he talks about Lex hating Superman and aliens in general, but yeah she's the focus of his rage for sure.

And I agree it'd be a re hash... there's just a lot pointing to it.

I know this series is in its own universe but technically it is a spinoff of the Arrowverse so I’m glad they will acknowledge and honor that. It will hopefully make the finale feel full circle while doing their own thing.

So Jordan is now nicknamed "Superboy."

Somebody get the boy a black T-shirt.
