Totally agreed on the complaints about teenagers being teenagers. That part never bothers me 😅I was talking more in general, not you. I said this back in like season 2 when everyone was whining about all of the kids (including some that love Smallville which was 95% teen angst) but as someone who teaches HS that is how kids are. If you want Clark and Lois to have kids it makes sense for them to act like kids. Melodrama is just part of it...and on a show that is on a rather low budget network they are going to play that up a bit more because of the audience (CW viewers) and because it is cheaper. Sometimes it was a bit much but then again...so are teens
I get that the cancer story was triggering to a lot of people, but I also think it was an important story to tell for many reasons. I would rather they take that swing. I get what you are saying though.
And yeah, I get that it's important for real life issues like cancer & grief to have a place in TV shows, that it is a good way of raising awareness & generating conversation.
It's just, selfishly... does it have to be my comfort show? And does it have to be the focus? (I.e. I appreciated the miscarriage reference in S1, because it was a reference to a past experience... I would not have wanted to see a whole season of the family dealing with a miscarriage in the present).
Can't the high stakes in S4 just be that Lex's side kick Amanda has figured out the family secret by the second half of the season, and maybe she shares it with Lex and they go after the boys with a green k ring? But the season starts off with some family quality time after cancer year? I know Doomzarro made that impossible (hence me hating that from the get go), but that's my idea of a fun final season!
Every episode being framed by grief, maybe exploring the different stages of grief, anger, denial etc. Every character talking about it in new ways every episode as we see Lois struggling not to fall apart while Lex kicks her while she's down...
That's just not gonna be fun for me.
Except maybe the flashbacks. Those could be fun.
