It felt kinda strange after watching SR. Jason is Superman's kid, but Lois doesn't have any recollection of sleeping with superman. this is because (as many of you know) the events at the end of Superman II where superman wiped her memory. wouldn't that count as rape? (sorta like a date rape drug that wipes peoples' memories, etc). what a bad way to depict superman. bryan singer....what have you done?

You misunderstood. At the end of Superman II, Clark told Lois he was Superman and after they kissed is when he wiped her memory of who he was. He didn't wip out her memory of what they did. Lois still remembers she and Superman had sex in the fortress.

Nonsense - this is quite clearly not the intended interpretation of events at the end of Superman II.

Lois is already a wreck over her doomed relationship with Superman before he turns up at the Daily Planet as Clark Kent. Merely having her forget about his dual identity would not result in her instant return to breezy, happy normality... the kiss quite clearly erases all memory of their relationship together, restoring things to the way they were before the movie started.

Singer's is a twisted, desperate, dishonest interpretation born out of a desire to try and resolve one of the many problems with his film.

In the law of many western countries, to commit a crime you have to have "intent".

Thats where your theory falls down.

according to singer

NRAMA: After he gave up his powers in Superman II, Lois and Superman slept together. I’m going to assume that that’s when he got her pregnant…

BS: Possibly.

NRAMA: Then he gives her the kiss, which made her forget that they even slept together. Was the pregnancy a mystery for her?

BS: I ignored that part. I just assumed she remembered sleeping with him.

singer conveniently trys to justify his awful decision to make superman returns a sequel

even a schoolkid could write a better script

how can a bunch of bums like Harris and dougherty get to write the superman script?

someone must have been sucking on something to get the script passed,

its shocking

Wow. Sounds like someone is jealous. A disgruntled screenwriter, perhaps?

Try actually studying the law before you try to use it..

The intent happened when Clark knowingly, of sound mind and mental sanity had sex with Lois. He also had the intent to wipe her memory. That is all the intent a district attorney would need. He wouldn't need proof that Clark thought 'HMMM! I'M GONNA RAPE LOIS!'

no. he sounds more like a disgruntled superman fan who expected a better written and exectuted film. just one of the many, many dissapointed superman fans out there.
superman returns is a major dissapointment. considering the massive anticipation of the man of steels return to the big screen.

ok maybe I am really stupid and just didn't get this, but how did he get his powers back in Superman II?

He used the green crystal, even though Lara told him from the beginning that he could NEVER have his powers back.

Poop on Superman II.

From what I've read....that was a change made by Lester...in the Donner version, apparently Jor-El was supposed to give up all of his powers in the crystals to give Supes back his powers...but the Salkinds didn't want to pay Brando for a second movie and had them do a rewrite.

Does anyone else remember this version?

Absolutely. All of Lara's scenes in the FOS in II originally featured Jor-El. The producers had Richard Lester reshoot all of Brando's scenes with Susannah York (Lara) so they wouldn't have to pay Brando for II. Sadly the most important Brando scene in the film which was cut and never reshot (I always wondered about that) was the scene you mentioned.

After Clark finds out about Zod taking over the planet and returns to the Fortress and finds the green crystal, Jor-El appears to him one last time. He commits spiritual suicide in a sense to give Clark back his powers (those were the consequences for Clark turning his back on the world, to be with Lois). Superman got his powers back to save the world from Zod, but at the price of the communication link between him and his father was lost forever.

In the Theatrical Cut, the scene ended right after Clark finds the green crystal and we never saw how he got his powers back which left a huge plot hole in the middle of the film. Fortunately, all of Jor-El's scenes have been reinserted into the Donner Cut, which comes out later this year.

That sounds really cool and has upped my anticipation for the release.

But I have heard that the new Donner "cut" is supposed to line up better with Returns...Is this true? If so then how did Jor-El appear in Returns if he had commited "spiritual suicide"?

The details of their hookup is never truly covered in SR. That's where the "vague" history part comes in. Singer just used the old films like a salad bar...taking what he wanted, while disregarding what he didn't. Times, places, people, looks all changed. The only things that really stayed the same during the carryover were the sets of the Kent Farm and the Fortress (and even that was enhanced using todays FX tech). Even the suit changed.

Well, she figures out it's his kid.

So, no....she wasn't raped.

does anyone remember that "look" Lois gives Jason right after Richard said "i'll drive you (to the hospital)". Jason shows her his artwork then Lois looks at him in kind of sentimental amazement and gives him this "look" like it was saying 'where did you come from?'

sorry i dont have footage or screencap to make it more specific but for those of you who remembers enough did you guys notice that?

Yeah, I do. That was a good scene.

Ya know, I think Richard might know. I mean, he might. I wouldn't be surprised if he did.

''Vague history'' people. The term is not that complicated.....What do you want to complain now, Clark's glasses maybe?

Now, speaking of Superman II ''The Donner Cut''.....Man I'm creaming myself over that one.

Uh, dude.....****ing ewwwwwww.

But, since we're on the sunject of creaming, I'm doing the same right now.

Nah, it's cool. We're all sort of like Brothers here anyways.
