World Superman movie rankings on the IMDb

The IMDb has thousands of voters, 54,000 on Superman Returns alone, so it's the most accurate mass-poll of Super movies on the net. Are you getting sick of that sentence yet?

Superman Returns - 6.9
Superman II - 6.6
Superman III - 4.6
Supergirl - 3.8
Superman IV - 3.2

I have to take up with these rankings. They are all atleast one point too low. Superman is a classic and should be approaching a 9. Returns atleast in the 7s. Superman II.....come on-! Superman II is awesome. 6.6? 8.6 I think. Supes III deserves far higher than 4.6, that's a joke when you consider great special effects and the junkyard fight scene. Supergirl is mediocre but a 5 atleast. And Superman IV getting 3.2? That's just silly. It's a 2.2 at best.

Well, you have to keep in mind what these movies are up against. Ok, most of the movies in the imdb's top ten don't interest me. But a lot of people consider them classics in every sense of the word. Not just classics of their genre, but overall classics, they think they are all a movie should be. They don't consider movies like Superman to be in that league. They don't think they're bad though.

I'd say movies in the 6's and 7's are considered good movies, classics to some extent, and they only rate that low because of the scale being so high. Just about all my favorite movies are in this range... sorry, I just don't go for the Gone With the Winds and the Casablancas and the Godfathers.

Everyone of the good Superman movies is 1.0 short of the score they should have IMO ath the minimum.

That coupled with the fact that the first two Superman movies are becoming dated. Superman III and IV's low scores were well deserved, they were just as awful for their time as they are now.

I recognise that it's not accurate in any way other than people have given these movies a ranking out of ten.
