Ok, I'm new here and working on getting caught up on the threads. One things keeps jumping out at me that I wanted to get off my chest.

No, Superman doesn't have much of a presence in Kara's life and/or adventures. It's been pointed out that Earth 38 only has a handful of super heroes - Superman, Batman, Supergirl and her posse. The reason Superman hasn't stopped by to help more often is he has his own stuff going on. I have cousins too and I have no idea what they're doing today because I have a job (2 actually) a website, a family and other things occupying my time.

Metropolis has more than its share of Earth-endangering perils; let's give Kal a pass on being a less-than-helpful cousin, shall we?

You and your cousins are not superheroes who protect the world though. Also if your cousin was on their death bed as Kara pretty much was after Reign destroyer her would you not go to see them at the hospital?

It’s not so much giving Kal a pass or even been frustrated at the character. It’s the writing, they could have even mentioned that he’d already visited or something. Take the moment where Reign was on the verge of breaking out of Lena's Prison and they were worried that Kara wouldn’t make it back in time. Would it have hurt the writers to put in a line about having Superman on standby or that he was off World?

They did made a conscience effort to tell us where he was in the season finale saving Madagascar. Which I think they did because of the complaints.

When you have a problem like this on your show you have to address these issues.

Exactly. It's not that he's not there, it's that there's no explanation why. It only takes a sentence.

Yeah and we are only asking for that in the situations when the stakes are so high that we feel he should be there. Like the finale where they addressed exactly where he was.

Not much different than Flash waiting until deadly satellites are in orbit and suddenly thinking, "maybe we should call Kara."

A bit late, Barry.

It’s very different, Kara is on another world. Sure Cisco could vibe her but these are Earth 1 problems. On Supergirl world too we were talking about things like when Kara was pretty much in a coma, Clark would surely come see if she’s ok? Or how about when Lena, Hank, Winn etc didn’t think Kara was gonna make it back in time from Argo? That’s when you call Superman or ya know when you have to take on 3 world killers after one has completely dismantled you. Also Clark has a connection to the Kryptonian stuff too. So it’s not the same thing at all.

He doesn't need a pass from me, I'm fine with him not being there. I go watch him at the movies....:cwink:

But I understand where some are coming from.

The problem is, if you can't get the actor, you can't get the actor and I would hate to think that we would not have had that unbelievable fight scene straight out of the Supergirl comics simply because we couldn't get Tyler in for a bedside scene.

It’s not about him being there sometimes it’s about him mentioning him as I alluded to above.

I understand where you are coming from....I probably rushed my post a little because of time....but I totally get where you are coming from.

I am in agreement; I can accept him not being around half the time, but in instances when he otherwise should be around, his absence should be explained. It wouldn't hurt if one season it wasn't just Kara dealing with a global catastrophe, but Clark too, and it's specifically referenced that he's unable to help Kara cause he's dealing with another enemy (one that he'd later be stated as defeating, thus world saved).

They should have killed him off when they had the chance if they weren't going to get to use him more.

Oh, I don't know. We all know it wouldn't have been permanent! :cwink:
If it wasn't to be permanent, then it ultimately wouldn't make a difference anyway as we'd have come full circle. :cwink: The writers can't keep killing Superman every time he needs to show up. :oldrazz:

Killing him off would just be so convenient. Horrible idea.

Yes, my comment was in no way a serious endorsement of killing him off :yay:
