With the tendancy lately for studios to double dip with DVDs, combined with the knowledge that there are cut scenes existing out there somewhere....I won't be buying a copy until they make those deleted scenes available.
i don't mind if the release another version at a later date AS LONG AS they say they are going to on the same day they announce the first release.Just like LOTR films, they announced another extended version would be released 5/6 months later so i waited. But if they do a KING KONG and don't announce it until a few months after the first release then i just stick with the first version i bought, though i could have made a decent guess they was going to they should have announced them at the same time.

With you on that one- the studios should announce it early and give buyers a heads up. King Kong didn't, they suckered me into buying it- now, going to buy the extended cut. Favorite Peter Jackson film, IMO King Kong>LOTR

That 2 disc cover is fan art, what the hell.

I don't think the upcoming extended version of King Kong was planned at the time of the first DVD. Peter Jackson went back and added in some stuff he had left out, and some stuff that was never created (an attack with a giant bird, a monster fish etc)... because fans of the movie, and those who bought the brilliant book A Natural History of Skull Island wanted more monster magic! Also, he has probably found out there is not going to be a sequel (I'd love a Return to Skull Island).. so he's using up all the concepts...

I hate Returns but I'll buy it because it's Superman and I buy everything Superman related on dvd.

Only if all the deleted scenes are put in for a complete film.

Just for the sake of spending your hard earned money?

Some people are avid collectors. I collect most things that deal with Doc Savage. I have several copies of the Ron Ely movie....it's bad, but I have copies for my collection.

I myself will probably end up buying it, just because it's Superman... I'm getting the Christopher Reeve collection and the Richard Donner Cut, I might as well pick up Superman Returns as well.

I'm really looking forward to the new Reeve Superman DVDs....I wish they had done that the first time.

Im not happy that the Donner cut of S2 will have to be a seprate purchase from the Reeve collection

I got the 1-IV DVD set last Christmas, and was pretty peeved when they announced another set. The same way I'm peeved about the new Bond collection after I've already purchased many of the '007' edition DVD's.

I picked up the Supes set when it first came out a couple of years ago...I really want the new ones...so I'll probably get them and give my old ones to my brother.

I hadn't heard anything about new Bond releases (doesn't surprise me though with the new movie coming)...there's still a couple I don't have, so hopefully I can get them cheap now.

What happened to all this talk of the "Super Set" with Returns, Supergirl, and the previous four movies in different incarnations?

I used to be an avid collector, but that was when I realized I was spending way too much money on things that were really not that important.

As for the new Superman releases, I'll surely be buyin' the Donner's cut, since I got the dual layer special edition of STM a couple of years ago.

I guess it's good for sales to seperate them, but I wanted the whole box of candy.

Any idea why we have to wait until December for the DVD release? I this black market age, I thought most films were out on DVD only a month or two after big screen release, no?
