How can it not be as good as it was? The film itself is no different.

I just find it so perfect and a real classic. Plus whenever you hear people like Bryan Singer, Sam Raimi, Tobey Maguire and Peter Guber talk about the various Superhero movies they've made, they all say how great it was and how it inspired them to try and make a movie in the same vein for their chosen character.

If you asked Raimi, Singer or Nolan which is the best superhero movie, they'd all say Superman.

Don't get me wrong I love Superman:The Movie, but I did like Superman II (TRDC) and III a bit more. I am glad that Superman Returns was a lot like S:TM.

To tell you the truth, I always thought Superman 2 was much better.

I am 27 i saw Darkman when i was very young on video and it scared the hell out of me. Gave me nightmares and all. To this day i refuse to watch it, even on cable. I remember hearing about Raimi getting the Spiderman gig, i thought "What are they insane", only thinking of how much i hated Darkman.

Superman The Movie is good and very important to the history of comic book superhero cinema, but I'm not sure it's the greatest of its kind.

Superman II superior? no, I dont think so.

Mostly the people see Superman II in the 80, becuase we see superman more direct ation, maybe a complete superman II by donner made in the 80 would be better than supeman the movie

Agreed Zod is still one of the greatest hero film villains along with Joker, and Magneto the first film goes on too long at the begining but the king movie for me is still B89.BR and X2.

I love S:TM, but the first hour with the origin really bores me. I have the same problem with Batman Begins.

Superman: The Movie is a classic, and behind SM2 as my favorite comic movie. I think this is a perfect movie up until we get to him turning back time. Other than that, the movie is perfect to me.

Personally, I believe the opposite; IMO the first hour is usually the best part, especially with Batman Begins and Spider-Man.
