With SDCC coming up quickly, I just thought I'd put the new thread out there.

Curious to see what news drops at the panel.

Damn I thought I would be able to start the final season thread lol.

Only thing confirmed so far is that it will be 20 episodes.

I’m eagerly awaiting the return of this show. I’m also thinking that Chuck (or shall we just say God?) will meet his demise before the show wraps for good, though (to quote Dr Ian Malcolm) life will find a way and go on...

I do hope they address the version of Michael locked in the cage, as I also hope they address Adam (who’s also in the cage?); unless he’s somehow now in Heaven?

It’s gong to be a damned interesting season, that’s for sure! I’ve stuck with this show since the very beginning. It’s (mostly) had a solid ride.

After binge watching on Netflix I'm at season 9 and I just can't finish it. Just like xfiles I don't care about the mythology and really only find the monster episodes fun. Might just find those and skip everything else.

Can’t wait for this, but at the same time I don’t want it to be over. I’ve read that at least some of this final season will cover just how much free will our characters have had over the previous 14 years, and how much of their lives have been pre engineered by Chuck.

I stand by what I’ve said previously too; Chuck will meet his demise which will please the empty entity. Castiel will probably rise in rank somehow (maybe via Amara?) to the position of (an) Archangel, and if Adam is back, that hopefully means they’re going to address prime Michael.

Oh I really do hope we (the fans) are going to like the ending here. One thing I don't get is that we still appear to be having a couple of MotW episodes, when I'd rather the focus being on the final wrap.

    Roll on tonight!!

Honestly not the best opening episode to a new season we've had, though I'm sure it'll pickup somewhat. I do however have some concerns over the latest dynamic, and thoughts following the episode.

    SPOILERS
    • Considering how long human existence has been around, 2-3billion souls in Hell simply doesn't seem enough. Modern Humanity has been around for some 200,000 years, and we've approximately 7.7billion people in the world today, so how is it that Hell only has 2-3billion?
    • The woman in the ghost house, running from the clown with her daughter can't act.
      • If you're trapped in your garage, get in the car and drive through the garage. Genius.
    • I like the fact Jack's body has been possessed, and it'll be interesting to see how this character develops, further knowing that there's something else going on with Jack in the Empty.
    • Michael is FINALLY free, and the fact that he was specifically referenced in the way in which he was gives me hope that his character will be built upon more this season, and that he'll turn out to be one of the good guys, ultimately. Short of Gabriel, all other Archangels have been ... not very nice. Michael has always been stern and wanted to follow Gods Plan, though with revelations being what they are, I'm hoping he's realised that he can now make his own decisions.

Solid start. Tho I am curious as to what Cas saw in his vision. It looked like Sam with black eyes attacking Dean....the future?

Its estimated that 107 billion homo sapiens have lived on earth. Pagan gods controlled the earth at one time and they might have taken souls of their worshipers to their own versions of the afterlife. The souls that became ghosts wouldnt be in hell. Rather they would be in purgatory. And many souls are in heaven. Some have probably been destroyed entirely and never went anywhere. Some souls may have been eaten by monsters.

The woman in the garage probably didnt have time or the mental fortitude to even consider grabbing her car keys before she ran to the garage and more than likely she cant hot wire a vehicle.

I think Chuck put some sort of curse on that gun so if anyone tried to use it against him something really ****ed up would happen to them.

The season preview showed a glimpse of what looked like an evil sam and the vision Cas saw looked like a glimpse of that.

This is where supernatural's consistency comes out of play, for God created Adam and Eve, who would by distinction have been the first homo sapiens, so either God created them, went away, and the Pagan Gods (among others) came along and had a little fun with Gods creation until his return, or the Pagan Gods were here before, praying on whatever predated homosapiens.

Needless to say, there's some inconsistency at play, as God/Amara are said to be the two beings that came out of the darkness to create, so where did the Pagan Gods come from? Are they further creations of Chuck (unbeknown to them) or did they predate Chuck? This has never been established.

Archangels are superior to a Pagan God, this much we know, but we don't know where the Pagan, Mayan, Greek, Norse (etc) Gods came from, nor when they were created. Some episodes of Supernatural seem to indicate they were here before God came along, but then if that was the case, humanity wouldn't have been, but likewise it's been said on several occasions (even by the Empty) that God and Amara were the first beings to exist - so much so that Chuck created the Earth, so where did these other Gods reside beforehand?

    Just speculation:

The other gods may have been created by belief and worship. We've seen in SPN that belief can actually create monsters under the right circumstances. So maybe humans invented there pagan relions and their own gods and worshipped them and this worship and belief resulted in the gods becoming real. These gods ruled over various peoples in their own regions. (The gods being over their own regions of the earth is actually a real world theological idea dating back thousands of years.) During this "pagan" time God was doing whatever, and the Angels were in heaven content to not mess around on earth. The demons were in hell. At some point the Angels came to earth and took it from the pagan gods and used christianity to destroy the pagan religions which in turn further weakened the pagan gods to the point that they could never take back the earth.

    That's my head canon.

That’s a good theory @Marvolo , even if it does sound like something more outta American Gods. ;)

All this makes perfect sense (considering everything we've see already) and totally fits the Supernatural universe. I deem it Canon :) lol

Just saw a compelling theory. We know Sam's wound connects him to Chuck. When Cas touched the wound he saw an evil black eyed Sam in the bunker trying to kill Dean. The theory is that when Cas touched the wound he got a glimpse into one of Chuck's abandoned tinelines/storylines. Essentially it was an alternate universe in which Sam became a demon and murdered or tried to murder Dean in the bunker.

I hope this theory is correct, because this would allow this season to show glimpses of bizarre and twisted storylines that Chuck abandoned. Imagine an abandoned storyline in which Dean became a witch and sacrificed Sam and his father to Samhain. Or one in which Case sided with Lucifer during his rebellion against God. Or one in which Michael rebelled against God and became the devil while Lucifer remained the loyal son and Dean was Lucifer's host and Sam was Devil Michael's host.

Hell, do an entire episode of main Sam being in a coma because the god gun wound is causing him to flash to and experience various abandoned storylines.

That was a great sendoff for Rowena. It really feels like we're heading towards a ending

    Ouch! Dean! That was COLD!

I don’t know when he was introduced, but my money is on Adam (and in turn, Michael). Bella wasn’t well received by the majority of fans, and so I’d be amazed if she was making a return.

I’d concur with this, great wrap and sacrifice for her character. A bit disappointed the way Ketch went though, however I guess it was fitting that he died as one of the good guys, not willing to give up on his newfound friends.

I suppose in a way it’s good that the other Demon did get something out of Ketch (besides his Heart) otherwise fake Jack (I can’t remember the demon name) would’ve had a big win!

    Agreed, Dean's being a total a**hole
How many times has he forgiven people, demons even, for worse things, but this is unforgivable??
It's the final season, we don't have time for Dean and Cas to be having a b*tchfest

If Cas hadn't kept Jack's deterioration a secret Mary might still be alive. That's a hard thing to forgive.
