I know a lot of people upon seeing this probably saw two pretty boys and rolled eyes and did'nt bother to watch it, but it's honestly really good. It's pretty much weekly mini horror movies.

It's very slick and has high production values. It introduces more series like elements and arcs towards the end of the series.

with the feature packed region one dvd and season two impending, I hope this starts a merchandising trend, as I would love action figures and videogames and guide books and whatnot.

A worthy sucessor to angel imo.

This was pretty much the only new show that I stuck with last season. I loved the Soundtrack. They didn't do that usual WB crap & put in a whole bunch of new bands randomly for the sake of advertising them at the end of the show.

I also dug the style. It was just a very condensed straight forward campfire tale every week. It never really got over complicated with to many people or to much plot, or drama. As one of the guys say in the first few episodes. "No chick flick moments".

I also love the little hints to old pop culture. Like the fake names that they give when sneaking into place. The one that comes to mind is the Dr. James Hetfield one, or Jon Bono. That adds a kind of wheres waldo kind vibe every week.

The only thing that I fear is that this show is actually to good for the WB/CW. I will wait & see but I could see this show slowly turn into just anothe WB/CW show. You mentioned Angel. Well I think that Angel was basically canceled for being something different on that network. The ratings weren't that bad for god's sake!

Yeah I love the soundtrack. I felt awesome when I recognised the blue oyster cult logo before the characters in hell house :D

You're right about wb too. It's also surprisingly violent and bloody for a wb show...its not a gorefest, but its more ballsy than I was expecting.

Im still pissed about angel's cancelation. it had the best ratings at the time, boosted ratings, and had a loyal following. It had at least one or two good seasons in it as well left imo.

Could I have been wrong?
Could it be that the fact that my ex recommended this turned me off in the first place?
Could it be that yes, I saw 2 pretty boys (and only 2 episodes) and I did roll my eyes?
Could be it that this is not "X-Files" for teenage girls?

I'd love to be proven wrong

Teen girls? LOL dude the only thing for girls really about the show is that the two guys are kinda pretty boys.....but then again so was james marsters and david b.oreanaez.

I would reccomned trying it again gammy, predjudices free (including that your ex reccomended it...trust me i know how that can skewer your view of something)

I'm not a teenage girl, I like it. The realtionship between Dean and Sam is like the relationship I have with my brother. That and that alone draws me back every week. The whole X-files+fugitive vibe is OK, mostly.

That "Scary just got sexy" trailer was LAME and really turned me off, but I figure that's just a way of attracting the teeny-bopper girl audience :down

If you guys say this is good horror stuff, I'll buy the DVD set.

I actually saw a fight clip and it wasn't half bad....didn't use crazy wire stuff, and had some pretty good wing chun moves

Well for me at least (and maybe Horrorfan) didn't see any WB trailers. The ads I saw were from Space. Which involved quick views of monsters, Sam and Dean covered in blood/monster guts/dirt, and dead Jessica burning up with Enter Sandman playing over top of it. What's there not to like!

Yeah those trailers were pretty lame....but it is a damn good show. It's a lot darker, more fun, better acted and sharply written than you would expect.

I'm pretty sure you would love it Gams

Why didn't I see that trailer? :(
Well Space is Canada's Sci-fi channel. You wouldn't see it anywhere else. Unless you live here....

It's a good show.

My favourite episode last season had to be the one where Sama nd Dean met their dead mother in spirit form.

There are a couple of things I don't like, namely the fact that too many of the episodes are standalone, and have no bearing on plot development at all. At like to see some tighter plot arcs. Supernatural can sometimes drag things out longer than it should.

This was one of my favorite shows last season, a whole lot better than I expected. Offers cool new twists on "supernatural" legends like Bloody Mary, Vampires, Wendigo. I really thought it would take a more WB melodrama route, but it never happened. Great classic rock soundtrack and references. On the Angel/Buffy note, either Anya or Tara (can't remember which) is gonna guest star as a vampire this coming season. Definitely not the show you thought it was gonna be Gammy.

didnt they already have tat chick from angel co-star in the lake episode?

Yeah it has quite a few well placed nods to genre tv shows.

Amy Acker played Fred/Illyria on Angel, Julie Benz played Darla on Buffy/Angel and William Davis, who played the cancer man in x files.

Yup, Amy Acker in the lady of the lake episode. Julie Benz in the preacher man episode. Just thout a little extra irony that someone that was "a good guy" from Buffy is gonna be a varmpire in Supernatural. Both Amy Acker and Julie Benz played "good guys"

I liked the episodes that I watched.

Two hot guys+X-files=Supernatural.

Darla was a good guy in Buffy / Angel ? Fred (Amy) was on the good side but certainly not Darla (Julie)

I'll take it that your from out of the US. And to tell you the truth- those marketing adds really don't do the show justice- it's just another way to attract a larger viewer rating. The promos in the US, stray completely away from that tag line- so, to get a feeling for what the show is really about head on over to www.supernatural.tv

Yeah, calling Darla a "good guy" was definitely a mistake.

That is the way it all over TV these days. I remember ghost whisperer last year. Every freaking week they would advertise it as this intense thriller. Then every week it would be Touched By An Angel light. I don't see how this doesn't turn viewers off.

I just got these DVDs last week and am up to "The Benders" now.

WOW this show is really good. Not nearly so cheeseball as you would expect from it, actually kind of scary in places and good plots. I am loving it.

It´s okay. Think The X-Files without the science/faith conflict or the government conspiracies or the sexual tension between the leads - before someone starts making gay jokes, they´re brothers, so it´s gonna sound REAAAAALY sick...

It's great how they poke fun of that every now and then- primarily in the episode "Bugs".
