The new season of Survivor has started, this time with four returning players joining new players. I´m kind of ambivalent about mixing new and returning players, on the one hand I do enjoy seeing contestants that played well before come back to the game but on the other hand they do tend to suck up all the oxygen early in the season.

Also not sure what to make of the new twist, though I do think it has potential to be interesting.

I don't like the idea of mixing newbies with returning players. The same way I don't like the idea of mixing A-List returning players with B and C-List (Game Changers).

I really do believe the producers didn't trust they had a cast strong enough, and that's why they brought returning players back. And for me this premiere is an indication of that. No one stood out with the exception of the returning players (but that's because their status).

Aubry and Wentworth are some of my favorite players and I do have a feeling they'll be wasted here. The same way Aubry was in Game Changers.

David vs Goliath was unanimously beloved by the fans, and set the bar really high. Let's see how Edge of Extintion goes...

I thought it was funny that everyone gets a choice after they get voted out. Is anyone really not going to choose to stay?

There have been some who wanted to be voted out, so those players would choose to exit the game.

Also, once people know how it works they might not want to do it.

So is this like redemption island where players have to play each other in order to get back in the game?

I think they made the right choice, Keith was a major liability in any swimming challenge and would just have dragged the tribe down. Also given how difficult he found making the choice at the end it makes me think his heart isn't really in the game.

I really liked how Wardog reasoned things out and I think he's my current favorite of the new players.

I think there will be a challenge before the merge and when there are only like 5 or 4 people (that aren't voted out yet) in the game.

The major difference from Redemption Island, there's no duel in every episode and the island will be occupied by more than 4 people. I wonder how many of early boots will join the jury because of this. Like Reem can stay in the island until she loses the 2nd duel, if I'm not wrong.

I just liked Wardog because he helped keeping Wentworth in the game.

But so far, none of the newbiews stood out for me. Only the returnees. And by returnees I just mean Aubry and Kelley.

Couldn't help but laugh that David's plan blew up in Chris's face. Guy should have just gone with the plan or blabbed about it to everyone.

Good for Aubry finding the idol, seems like she will need it.

Ok, two very entertaining tribal councils this week. Have to say that I thought Aubry played poorly by not using her idol, but at the same time I thought that Victoria did a great job at fooling her.

Wardog definitely was playing a bad social game but he was right on the money with his reasoning for voting Wendy.

I've been enjoying the edge of extinction island. Seeing the bitter players stewing is pretty entertaining as was seeing Keith sneak off when the others were just sitting around.

I'm still rooting for the girls here: Aubry and Wentworth were already my favorites. And now I'm really enjoying Lauren. And I'm really happy the three of them have idols. I am praying that Aubry is the one returning.

From the rest of the players, I liked Rick, but probably only one will return from EI, and I want it to be Aubry. Gavin has a pretty good edit too (and I find him attractive), and Victoria stood out with her plan fooling Aubry. Also, I don't really enjoy Joe much, and it annoys me that tribes with him never goes to tribal. He is certainly ridiculously good, but annoying that his tribes never lose. But as much as I don't find him entertaining to watch, I feel bad for him literally carrying the whole tribe, but being completely lonely, with no one wanting to play with him. It's a bit touching.

Not a bad season so far, but not nearly as good as DvG.
