The announcement has been made. The new season will be located in Nicaragua and is set to premiere this fall!

In staying consistent with previous threads...the first post will continue to be updated as events unfold.

Discuss.

:yay:

UPDATE: This season's twist has been announced. The survivors will be divided into two groups based on age. One group will be 40+, the other will be 30 and below.

UPDATE #2: The cast has been announced!

UPDATE #3: The hidden immunity idols will once again be part of the game. This time, however, 'visual riddles' will replace the written clues.

UPDATE #4: A new twist in the game is called the 'Medallion of Power'. There will one of these for the entire game and the tribe that owns it gets to choose whether or not they want to use it. If they choose to, it will give them a distinct advantage in the following immunity challenge. The catch is, after the challenge is over the MOP goes over to the other tribe where they get to keep it until they use it then it flips back to the other tribe again.

UPDATE #5: The 'Medallion of Power' is no more.

UPDATE #6: La Flor and Espada are no more. The tribes have officially merged.

I'll be interested in seeing how they change the immunity idol process around (the Russell Factor). I also hope they go back to the 2 person final tribal council.

Hard to believe it'll be 21 seasons. It's come a long way from Hatch's naked *** running around. :woot:

Interesting location for the new season. I guess its no longer the Nicaragua of 20 years ago.

I'm also curious to know what these 'new and innovative' challenges will be like.

There's something interesting about this. It's also been reported that Season 22 will take place in Nicaragua. Season 22 also will be Probst last season unless he signs on for more. The only time they've held back to back survivors in the same location is when they've held an All-Star one.

Pearl Islands and All Stars
Somoa and Heroes Vs Villians

Just something to think about.

maybe they are letting Russell take a break, he seems to be very angry about the fact that he didnt have one after samoa. Then they will bring him back for season 22 maybe

Jeff Probst is the face of Survivor. Without him, it wouldn't feel like Survivor. :down

Probst has been signing year by year contracts for some time, I think. Probst won't have much of a career out of Survivor and I reckon he'll go down with the ship.

Entertainment Weekly's Dalton Ross on Final 3:

As much as I loved the challenge, I hated the fact that it being the last one meant we were stuck with another final three. I've delivered this spiel too many times to mention, so I'll keep it brief, but with a final three all the drama about picking the person you bring to go against you in the finals is gone. With a final three, two of the other people left can still force a tie, meaning the final challenge winner doesn't have the full power to make a decision that could cost them a million dollars. Also A vs. B is just inherently more dramatic than A vs. B vs. C. It's far more impactful to have a jury voting between two options as opposed to simply picking one of the above. This remains my biggest Survivor pet peeve. I don't care if great players don't make the finals if you go back down from three to two. It's just better! Okay, I kept that rant pretty concise this time so yay for me.

Well isn't Regis having some major heart surgery today?

Russell should probably be done with Survivor. He'd have such a target on his back in a third season.

But the same was probably thought of Parvati and a couple others given their relative success. Given the mentality of many of the shows' participants, I'd think several of them would keep him around in the hopes that they can go to the final tribal council with him, thinking he'd be a lock for losing votes.

They're putting one of their proven big guns (Big Bang Theory) and one of their hot pilots (**** Denny Crane Says) in the Thursday 7 P.M. slot and moving Survivor to Wednesdays?

I think this is a none-so-subtle way of the beginning-of-the-end for Survivor.

So, what fancy hotel will Jeff Probst stay in while in Honduras?

I think the change to Wednesday is a better one then most peope think.

Wednesday nights are a wasteland for TV as it is, so Survivor won't have any competition for it to go up against like it did on Thursdays with the NBC comedy block and the Grey's Anatomy. Plus once March madness comes back around, they won't have to skip two weeks like the usually do.

It'll be fine. Now if CBS really wanted to make a statement, they should move The Amazing Race to join it on Wednesday. That would pretty much seal the deal for them owning Wednesday nigts.

I agree it's not survivor without probst, should be 2 in the finals, and Amazing race same night would rock!

Survivor is moving to Wednesday nights this fall! Here's CBS' new fall schedule:

Weird, but whatever. I think it'll be fine. Wednesday was the original timeslot for Survivor when it first premiered back in Season One.

Why must people mess with a good thing? If it's not broken...don't fix it!

Wednesday nights are The Middle, Modern Family, and Happy Town!

Happy Town is gone. I think its a self-preservation move. With rumors of American Idol going to Thursday, putting Survivor on TV's weakest night is a way to try to perserve the show.

Entertainment Weekly is giving away buffs for the new season at Comic-con! The two tribe names this season are Espada(the sword) and La Flor (the flower) (LOST! lol).

And supposedly the twist this season is:

A tribe of older contestants (30+) vs. a tribe of younger (29 & younger)
