By The White Wig Of Susan

I realize that we touched on this topic last year when we got our first glimpse at Susan with the "Fantasticar" promo photo. However, since then, we've seen much more footage, right up till the last two days with the new TV spots.

That said, what is your current opinion of this character's hairstyling for this film? I had to change my poll vote from JAL's thread based on new 'evidence', so here's a chance for others to do the same if they need to. I'll add my two cents later...

Other than the wedding scenes, she looks very unattractive with that hair.

As I mentioned, I had to change my vote, after seeing the TV Spots. For the most part I am very dissapointed now that I've seen it in motion. How can you possibly make a starlet as hot as Jessica Alba look bad?

The most dissapointing thing about this is that she also wore wigs for certain scenes in FF1. Her confrontation with Johnny at the X-Games, the final battle with Doom, etc., all those were wigs. And they looked fine on her, much more natural. I doubt few even caught the change. And I appreciate the fact that the producers wanted to achieve a more consistent W.A.S.P. appeal for this actress, but they missed the mark from what I've seen now. While I love the length of the hair, the styling is formless and it doesn't flatter her at all.

We all know that Jessica Alba's sex appeal and beauty played a key role in her being hired for this role--and that's appropro considering that Susan Richards is Marvel's hottest blonde bombshell. But between Jessica's major weight loss (where are the curves? :csad: ) and this hair problem, the sex appeal has been diminished for me.

I honestly believe they've defeated their own purpose.

You need to put up the airport pics as well...thats not really a fair assessment of what it looks like....those are pretty much all the BAD PICS...there are some that are actually really good....

And this is coming from someone that has acknowledged several times.....ick on the hair....

And we actually STILL have not seen it in motion.....exactly when in the tv spot was it "in motion"?????

I couldn't find any of them online after that situation I told you about--and they were the best-looking of the bunch, true. Does F4movies have them?

Look, making MJ look like a disgusting crack****e in sm2 was blasphemy, she's supposed to be a supermodel but Sue storm aint no supermodel. Sure she's hot, has great sex appeal and falls in the top 5 comic book milfs but she still looks great to me.

theres one.....

I have to agree with LS, it looks too obviously like a wig. The wedding scene looked fine in the first trailer but this latest trailer...not so good. Jessica wears extensions quiet a bit so I wonder why they couldn't go with that blended with her true hair. True blondes don't have such uniform color like that wig, there's darker tones mixed in. Heck, I get my hair colored all the time and it hasn't fallen out yet.:woot:

I'm sayin' nuthin'
Okay, I lied.

The hair isn't the problem. It's whose head it sits on that is the real issue. Maybe if they'd cast, oh I don't know, a blonde (or at least someone who could feasibly pull off the blonde look) we wouldn't be having these discussions.

Whatevs.

As it stands though, the wig looks ridiculous in the above images.

Wow, that didn't take long.....

I'm psychic.....:whatever:

the others were taken off, as they were here on the SHH....

That's not the real issue at all in my opinion.

This wig thing falls under production--costume and design. The same group of creative people responsible for the FF uniforms, Doom's mask, the Thing's suit, etc. It has nothing to do with the actors involved.

Plenty of people have had to wear wigs for their superhero roles--it goes with the territory:

Jack Nicholson--The Joker
Chris Reeve--Superman
Halle Berry--Storm
Lynda Carter--Wonder Woman
Famke Jannsen--Jean Grey
Hugh Jackman--Wolverine
Ellen Paige--Kitty Pride
Ray Park--Toad

Just to name a few. So just because they wear a wig doesn't mean it can't look convincing. Isn't Bryce Dallas wearing on for Spider-Man 3?

*sighs*....its a lost cause.....

That's why I said somebody who could pull off the look, and not a blonde per se.

However, the Jack Nicolson inclusion is a little silly, unless what you're saying is that there are people with green hair in real life.

It's just a bit odd that the hair looked better in the first in the film.

If I had my way, Kristanna Loken would've been Sue

I really do not have a problem with the style there. What I have a problem with is, it just looks like a wig. It does not look natural. Mabey it's the fact that we KNOW it is a wig. Don't know, but it just does not look natural.

Well in my opinion, she pulled it off better in the first movie. It was "redder" but at least it looked like it was living. :csad:

But that's not my point man. ;) They could've dyed his hair green too (punk kids do it ALL the time these days). But he didn't want to damage his hair. The same holds true for Jessica--she's naturally black-haired so to take it so light a shade was frying her hair--and she has other roles to play. So I can understand her desire to wear a wig now--and I appreciate her sacrificing so much for the first movie.

That said, the wig looking good falls on the costume designer and stylists. Also camera lighting will play a big role in it looking authentic on camera. I'm praying that this is a still from actual footage and this is how it will look in the movie:

It looked better in the first film because they used HER HAIR....this is a WIG....therein lies the problem...

She is actually naturally brown headed, not black....and for the past 5 years has actually been more toward the blonde end of the spectrum and in using honey highlights for the most part....

The wig sucks......nuff said.....:o

That is indeed the best shot. A little too blonde, but that has a lot to do with lighting. At least here, it looks natural.

See, I think the blonder the hair the better. Jessica has the right complexion for it, but it needs to be tailored. With the blue eyes she looks convincing to me there. I had this pic up on my browser and one of my coworkers asked me, "Who's the white girl? A new girlfriend Caliph?" She was joking, but she didn't know it was Jessica Alba. She just thought it was some blonde chick.

So it can work, if it's done right.
