Switched from square to widescreen...

And now my desktop won't display right. I've played with the resolution, but the "top" of my display is cropped off and the right side wont extend to the edge of the screen ie there's a black bar. What am I missing?

What resolutions were you at and what are you using now? A screen shot may help too. It sounds like your resolution is still set to the old square setting instead of the new widescreen one. I had this problem years ago when I first adjusted to widescreen but I was able to correct it with the screen resolution settings and updated drivers.
