Dave Howe: I think I brought Mystery Science Theater up. I mean it’s been a while actually since anybody – I used to get it all the time, you know, MST3K because quite frankly that was the only thing people ever associated with the network. And they’re, you know, those people that don’t watch still think we’ve got MST3K on our – clearly we haven’t the eight years I’ve been here.

We don’t have any plans to bring it back. You know, we’ve talked about it in the past but not for four or five years. I think the thing about MST3K is – and I’ll ask you the same question as I say to everybody else is did you actually watch more than about, you know, 15 or 20 minutes? It’s one of those kind of one-note amusing things which I’m not sure is sustainable for any length of time or any period of time.

So I don’t think it’s anything that we would necessary do again as an ongoing thing but, you know, we may do it as an event or as a, you know, one off special because I do think there’s some nostalgia around it. And it was very funny.

-10 years on national cable channels
-1 theatrical release movie
-16 volumes of DVD releases (and counting)
-Two separate, successful projects in the same spirit by the show's cast running today

If they did all that with a fan base that was only watching 12-17% of any given episode, more power to them. :boba:

I was shocked to realize that the Sci-Fi Channel goes by Syfy now.

Motherf-- I don't know anybody who's watched more than 15 or 20 minutes of Never Cry Werewolf, Joy Ride 2: Dead Ahead, The Butterfly Effect 3: Revelations, Gryphon, Megasnake, Mammoth, Copperhead, or any of the horrible straight to SyFy channel movies you guys play which would be GREATLY improved by robot puppets making belittling commentary.

A tv show that ran for like a decade clearly isn't sustainable as a series. What a moron.

Here's an idea. Stop playing pathetic infomercials overnight and play MST3K movies instead!

No attention span? I watch Lost Continent at least once a month now.

Rock Climbing Mother ****er!!!

:argh:

TV executives are such morons. Yes, this is a show that won't get any ratings. One that has an audience, a rabid following and tons of fans. Plus with Hollywood releasing tons of crap, (Lifetime movies, Syfy original features, Catwoman, Transformers ROTF, Black movies like Gang of Roses) there would be plenty of movies to rip.

No wonder people are turning to the Net for shows instead of Broadcast. Idiots like this will have people reading books for entertainment with their boneheaded decisions, like changing the title from Sci-Fi which everyone knows to the weird SYFY which just sounds nerdy even to nerds and fanboys.

Maybe they don't want to bring it back because their own previous made-for-TV-projects such as Mega Shark Vs. Giant Octopus starring fine actors like Lorenzo Lamas and Deborah Gibson would be fodder for MST3K.

I always associated MST3K with it being on Comedy Central because it was more of a humorous show.

I never watched it myself....I know some people like it, but if I have to listen to people talking back to the screen it'll be me with my friends and family.

What a dummy that guy is.

MST3K carried Sci-Fi on it's back for it's entire run. Sci-Fi, wait, SyFy, is forever in debt to MST3K.
