I was hoping they just meant that cast specifically, meaning if there's sequels, not everyone that was in the first will be in the second, third, etc. There may also be new faces as well

regardless, I'm hoping this movie isn't a one time thing and that's it. No more

Well if they took my advice and based The Expendables 2 on the Modern Warfare games, so then the following actors would be the equivalent of the characters in the game (assuming they survive the original):

Willis = General Shepherd

Stallone = Captain Price
Statham = Soap
Rourke = Nikolai
Li = Ghost
Couture = Gaz
Crews & Lundgren filling out the rest

Arnie = Sgt. Foley
Van Damme = Cpl. Dunn
Wesley Snipes = PFC Ramirez
Vin Diesel = PFC Allen
Ving Rhames & Danny Trejo filling out the rest of the team.

That way Willis gets a couple of scenes with Arnie and Sly individually but not together.

Edit: Naturally Chuck Norris cameos as Captain MacMillan!

"For the first and only time?"

:csad:

That probably means that they only expect Willis and the Governator to appear in only this first movie. I think the core characters (Stallone, Statham, Li) will be in any sequels, presuming their respective characters survive the first movie.

Seeing Arnold and Sly in one movie is gonna be historic, but it still couldve been better - Seagal and Van damme would make a great addition, and what would be even better is if the movie was made in late 80s when all of them were on the top

I think its cool that Stallone finally got this project off the ground, I know he has had on his plate for a few years

he did...it was on A&E....for about 15 years now, he has been working part time as a Deputy for the Jefferson Parrish Sheriffs Department in Louisiana

it got greenlit for a second season but the Sheriffs office ceased production when Seagal got accused of "sexual trafficking"

these two women are accusing him and some other guy of keeping them as "sex slaves" but its being filed as a civil lawsuit, not criminal

well the first one was more of a teaser IMO....trailers are there to generate buzz, not to answer every single question about the film right away

I expect Bruce Willis to promote this on Letterman....in what is likely to be a not so serious interview.

As much as it will be cool to see them all on-screen and all, a large part of me will forever lament the fact that they could never get together for a full movie while they were still in their relative prime, say somewheres in between 1987 - 1993.

How cool would an action movie featuring rival police/CIA/FBI/army partnerships consisting of Sly and Dolph vs Arnie and Van Damme have been.

It would have slayed the box office and our minds.

well the first one was more of a teaser IMO....trailers are there to generate buzz, not to answer every single question about the film right away

Which is why the 2nd trailer should have been the first teaser. It has no action and answers no questions and simply teases you with the big names involved. This trailer would have generated plenty of buzz.

well considering, at that time, they all commanded hefty paychecks...it would have probably cost much much more and just not been worth it...and Stallone still looks pretty damn good for 62, I think

I like that it is happening now because I think Stallone really wants to "pass the torch" to guys like Statham and Crews

Yeah, I know that it wouldve been expensive and that they all didnt get along etc. but if they'd realised the cinematic gold that could have been achieved by their union, they could have put their egos aside [as well as lowering their price tags to make sure it all came off] for the chance to achive something truly awesome.

Besides, they probably would have gotten a % of the box office anyways, which would have made up for the lowered paycheck.

No one can tell me that at least one person behind the scenes never tried to sell the idea to any of them. I'd truly love to find out what the reactions to such an idea were, and [if any] how far such a proposition actually got.

but this film will probably be awesome....I feel that you're trying to make it sound like because it didn't happen the way YOU wanted it to happen that it makes it "less than"

I know Stallone had wanted to do a big project like this around the time he did Demolition Man

I never said it wouldnt be awesome, BL, I just find it a shame that the big 4 couldnt have found a project to work on while they were all still in their primes.

Holy crap.... that was a badass trailer..... What is it the Stallone says at the start?

This should be the Miami Vice reboot:

yes and it's sad to be honest, they wouldn't have hesitated to make this R back in the 80's/90's
